The second Seaside EVO class ship has entered the final phase of preparation for its inaugural season in the Caribbean, which will begin in just four months.
MSC Seascape has successfully completed the first intensive sea trials of its systems during a multi-day test held between August 17 and 20. MSC Seascape will be the fourth ship in the Seaside class and the second Seaside EVO ship, built by Fincantieri in Italy, one of the world's largest shipbuilding groups.
The Seaside EVO ships are an evolution of the innovative and popular Seaside class, featuring striking design elements, impressive public spaces, and exciting passenger experiences. MSC Seascape celebrates the beauty of the ocean with a wealth of innovative design features, allowing passengers to experience new horizons at sea.
The 169,400-ton ship will be delivered to MSC Cruises at the end of November and will enter service in December 2022, sailing year-round in the Caribbean from its home port of Miami. Following MSC World Europa, MSC Seascape will be the second new MSC Cruises ship to be launched this year.
The christening ceremony for MSC Seascape will take place in New York City on December 7, 2022, at the Manhattan Cruise Terminal. The new ship will offer two different seven-night itineraries, with stops at Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve and Nassau in the Bahamas, San Juan in Puerto Rico, and Puerto Plata in the Dominican Republic; or at Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve, Cozumel in Mexico, George Town in the Cayman Islands, and Ocho Rios in Jamaica.
Before its official maiden voyage, this ship will undertake a 16-night transatlantic maiden voyage departing from Barcelona on November 21 and from Valencia on November 22, with stops in Cádiz, Madeira (Portugal), and Bermuda, before finally arriving in New York on December 5. The itinerary also includes an overnight stay in New York and direct return flights to Barcelona and Madrid.

The ship will feature the latest environmental technologies, including selective catalytic reduction systems on each of its four Wärtsilä 14V 46F engines, which will reduce nitrogen oxide emissions by up to 90% by converting the gas into harmless nitrogen and water. In addition, MSC Seascape's hybrid exhaust will eliminate 98% of sulfur oxides from its emissions.
Equipped with best-in-class wastewater treatment systems, boasting higher purification standards than most land-based wastewater treatment facilities, the vessel will also feature advanced waste management systems, U.S. Coast Guard-approved ballast water treatment systems, state-of-the-art systems for preventing oil discharges from machinery spaces, and several effective energy efficiency enhancements, from heat recovery systems to energy-saving LED lighting. In addition, the ship will have an underwater radiated noise management system to reduce and isolate potential effects on marine mammals.
