The entire MSC Cruises fleet has obtained ISO 21070:2017 certification for the protection of the marine environment, a certification that regulates the specific procedures for the management of waste on board, including the handling, collection, separation, labeling, treatment and storage of this waste.
This certification also regulates the ship-to-shore interface and the process of delivering waste from the ship to port reception facilities. Furthermore, all ships built by MSC Cruises in the future will receive this certification upon entering service.
The ISO 21070:2017 certification is complementary to EU Implementing Regulation 2022/91 of 21 January 2022, which defines the criteria for determining that a ship produces reduced quantities of waste and manages it sustainably and in an environmentally responsible manner.
