The cruise industry shows no signs of slowing down. In recent months, there has been a flurry of announcements of new ships, particularly in the luxury and ultra-luxury segments, where cruise lines such as SeaDream, Crystal, Four Seasons, and Viking Ocean have announced new orders.
Currently, the order book includes 82 vessels to be built through 2039, with European shipyards handling the majority of the work. However, orders are increasingly being placed with Chinese shipyards. The value of this order book is estimated at around $100 billion.
In 2027, 15 new cruise ships will arrive with a capacity of 30,324 low beds, while in 2028 there will be 14 with an approximate capacity of 28,100 low beds.
Group orders:
- Carnival Corporation (Carnival Cruise Line + Princess + AIDA + Adora): 11 ships, ~62,532 PAX pending
- MSC Group (MSC Cruises + Explora Journeys): 13 ships, ~56,530 PAX
- Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings (NCL + Oceania + Regent Seven Seas): 16 ships, ~42,717 PAX
- Royal Caribbean Group (Royal Caribbean + Celebrity): 10 ships, ~31,370 PAX although the figure is unrealistic because there are two Discovery class ships whose capacity has not yet been announced.
- Disney: 5 ships, ~17,000 PAX.
- Viking: 9 ships, ~8,982 PAX.
- Remaining: 16 ships, ~4,992 places

These figures confirm the good health of the sector, which generates a large volume of work and income, especially in Europe, where most cruise ships are built, and where many subsequently operate.
