National Geographic-Lindblad Expeditions today announced the latest collection of voyages in its 2028-29 program, incorporating new itineraries, longer voyages, and more opportunities to explore aboard its expedition fleet and a selection of exclusively chartered small vessels.
Following the first collection of trips for 2028-29, announced in August, the new itineraries expand exploration opportunities in iconic destinations such as the Galápagos Islands, Baja California, and the Amazon. They also include a new expedition to Costa Rica and Panama, as well as immersive journeys to Egypt and Peru.
Throughout the program, experienced expedition leaders, naturalists, historians, scientists, photographers, and National Geographic experts will contribute their extensive knowledge of each destination to travelers.
“Each destination has its own rhythm, and our job is to design the voyage in accordance with it,” says Trey Byus, Director of Expeditions at Lindblad Expeditions. “We are constantly looking for new ways to offer our guests deeper experiences, greater access, and more opportunities to actively explore. The 2028-29 program reflects this approach, with new combinations, longer itineraries, and smaller ships that allow us to discover these places in ways that larger vessels simply cannot. This could mean more time in the Galápagos, explorations of the Amazon by tender and kayak, or the opportunity to travel through Costa Rica and Panama on a single expedition.”.
The highlights of the 2028-29 season include the following:
Galápagos: Eight itineraries, ranging from seven to 17 days, will allow you to discover the archipelago aboard four different ships: the National Geographic Endeavour II, National Geographic Islander II, National Geographic Gemini, and National Geographic Delfina. Combinations of consecutive and extended voyages offer more time to explore the diverse islands and ecosystems of the archipelago. In addition, veteran naturalists and expedition teams will bring decades of firsthand experience to this destination.
Peru and the Galápagos Islands: In 2029, travelers will be able to combine Peru's cultural treasures with the wildlife and landscapes of the Galápagos Islands on a single land and sea journey with the Peru and Galápagos Escape itinerary. The experience begins with visits to Cusco, the Sacred Valley, and Machu Picchu, accompanied by expert historians and local guides. The journey then continues to the Galápagos Islands, where exploration activities, wildlife encounters, and snorkeling sessions with experienced naturalists await.
Costa Rica and Panama: A new 15-day itinerary connects the natural spaces of Costa Rica's Pacific coast and Guanacaste highlands with the rainforests, Pearl Islands, and the Panama Canal. An extended eight-day version of this itinerary, focusing on Guanacaste, offers more time to discover the region's landscapes, wildlife, and culture. Travelers can explore the surroundings by Zodiac, kayak, and paddleboard, as well as snorkel and hike. The program also includes more time at Gatun Lake and access to Barro Colorado Island aboard the National Geographic Venture.
Amazon: Between November 2028 and October 2029, the Upper Amazon: A River Expedition itinerary will travel through the Pacaya-Samiria National Reserve aboard the Delfin II and Delfin III vessels. Explorations by support boats, kayaks, and on foot will allow participants to search for pink river dolphins, primates, macaws, sloths, and caimans. Visits to riverside communities will also offer insights into local initiatives supported by Minga Perú.
Baja California: Aboard the National Geographic Quest, the Baja California Discovery: Exploring Mexico's Gulf of California itinerary will allow you to discover the ecosystem that connects the desert and the sea in this Mexican region. Meanwhile, Baja California: Among the Great Whales focuses on seasonal encounters with gray whales in the area's lagoons. The program also includes Baja California Holiday: A Living Sea and Desert Isles, a holiday departure for those who want to enjoy a getaway during that time.
Egypt: The Passage Through Egypt Aboard Oberoi Philae itinerary connects Cairo with Abu Simbel aboard the Oberoi Philae, a ship with a capacity for 44 passengers. Expert Egyptologists and accredited photography instructors will accompany travelers during visits, providing historical context at iconic sites such as the pyramids and the Sphinx, as well as less-visited locations including Saqqara, Dendera, and Kom Ombo. The tour offers a deeper understanding of 5,000 years of ancient Egyptian history.
The full program for 2028-29 builds on the track record of National Geographic-Lindblad Expeditions and combines small ships with the expertise, flexibility, and access that characterize expedition travel.
Each vessel, specifically designed for this type of voyage, offers its own unique and carefully curated way of discovering the world. On board, the expedition teams adapt each day to the environmental conditions, wildlife activity, and any discoveries that may arise during the journey.
The new collection for 2028-29 expands travelers' possibilities to go further, explore the places that really matter and discover each destination with the help of those who know it best.
