For more than 20 years, the collaboration between Lindblad Expeditions and National Geographic has been synonymous with modern expedition cruises on small ships.

Today, the two companies are taking their industry-defining relationship to the next level with the debut of a new name and refreshed shared brand identity, National Geographic-Lindblad Expeditions.
The launch of the new joint brand represents a significant milestone in the long-term expansion of the strategic relationship between Lindblad Expeditions, National Geographic, and The Walt Disney Company. This move was made possible by the new 17-year agreement between the three innovative brands announced in November 2023, which granted Lindblad Expeditions global rights to the National Geographic brand for expedition cruises until at least 2040.
“With the launch of our new joint brand identity, National Geographic-Lindblad Expeditions, we made the strategic decision to lead with the power and recognition of the National Geographic name, reinforced by Lindblad Expeditions’ rich heritage as pioneers of modern expedition cruising,” said Sven-Olof Lindblad, founder and CEO of Lindblad Expeditions. “Together with National Geographic and The Walt Disney Company, we will demonstrate the power of this new co-brand and increased name recognition, which will be vital as we expand our presence in key growth markets around the world. We firmly believe this updated co-brand will drive consumer intent, search efficiency, and conversion, bringing more discerning travelers aboard our growing fleet.”
“National Geographic and Lindblad Expeditions embarked together on an exciting future more than 20 years ago, and I’m proud to see that relationship and shared vision continue to expand through the launch of this co-branded cruise,” said Stephanie Young, President of Disney Vacation Club, Adventures & Expeditions and Disney Institute. “Exploring the world with National Geographic and Lindblad Expeditions is one of the most educational and insightful ways to travel. The expert naturalists and expedition leaders onboard, the state-of-the-art equipment, and the capabilities of these ships take guests on a journey like no other, educating travelers and inspiring them to conserve the world around them.”
“For the past two decades, National Geographic and Lindblad Expeditions have traveled the world together, united by a shared dedication to purposeful exploration,” added Jill Tiefenthaler, executive director of the National Geographic Society. “With the renewed joint brand identity of National Geographic and Lindblad Expeditions, we embark on the next phase of our long-standing partnership, looking forward to many more years of profound discovery and meaningful conservation work that will continue to educate, empower, and inspire future generations of global changemakers.”
The new National Geographic-Lindblad Expeditions joint brand identity and logo will be fully rolled out across all owned marketing channels by the end of the year, beginning today with the launch of the redesigned consumer website, www.expeditions.com. In early 2025, the joint brand will debut a comprehensive omnichannel trade and consumer marketing campaign—the largest in Lindblad Expeditions history—powered in part by the reach of The Walt Disney Company. Implementation of the new brand across Lindblad Expeditions’ growing fleet of 20 owned, chartered, and leased ships will begin in 2025.
With its pioneering history in modern expedition cruising, Lindblad Expeditions has been expertly guiding curious and discerning travelers on journeys of profound discovery to the most remote corners of the planet for over half a century. For the past two decades, Lindblad Expeditions and National Geographic have collaborated on a shared mission: to foster a spirit of discovery and community by combining science, nature, and purposeful travel.
Together, the brands and their guests have embarked on thousands of expeditions designed for discovery in order to highlight the wonder of the world and their collective role in protecting it.
