Oceania Cruises has planned its 2028 world cruise with the option of participating in only part of the journey, offering 12 independent segments aboard the new Oceania Aurelia, ranging from 10 to 19 days in length. This option allows you to choose a specific region and explore it at a more leisurely pace, as part of a route that, in its entirety, will cross six continents and 35 countries.
The complete round-the-world voyage will depart from Miami in January 2028 and arrive in New York 180 days later, after visiting 88 ports. The route also includes ten overnight stops, among them Papeete, Bora Bora, Sydney, Bali, Tokyo, Bangkok, and Mumbai, and numerous sites included on UNESCO's World Heritage List.
For those who prefer to join only part of the journey, the 12 segments allow you to travel the itinerary independently, from the Caribbean and the South Pacific to Asia, the Middle East and the Mediterranean.
From the Caribbean to the Pacific through the Panama Canal
The first segment, Two Oceans Odyssey, departs Miami on January 19, 2028, and arrives in Los Angeles after 17 days. The voyage passes through the Panama Canal and continues along the coasts of Colombia, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Nicaragua, and Mexico. From Australia to Japan via Southeast Asia
The fourth segment, Sydney to Bali , departs from Sydney and lasts 14 days. This itinerary links Australia with Indonesia, allowing you to gradually transition from the Australian coast to the landscapes and cultures of Southeast Asia.
Bali is also the starting point for Isles of the Orient, another 14-day cruise that includes Jakarta, Singapore, and several destinations in the Philippines, including Puerto Princesa, Coron, Manila, and Salomague, before arriving in Hualien, Taiwan. It is one of the most varied itineraries in the program, combining major Asian cities with islands and coastal destinations.
From Taipei, Pearls of East Asia sets sail for Tokyo on a 12-day voyage. The route includes several stops in South Korea and Japan, including Busan, Kagoshima, Nagasaki, Kochi, and Osaka. The next leg, Tokyo to Hong Kong, lasts ten days and connects Japan with Hong Kong. Following that, Treasures of Southeast Asia tourcontinues south through Vietnam, Cambodia, and Thailand. Hanoi, with Ha Long Bay, Ho Chi Minh City, Sihanoukville, and Ko Kood are all part of a route that combines cities, heritage sites, and coastal landscapes before arriving in Bangkok.
Towards the Middle East and the Mediterranean
Bangkok marks the start of the next leg. Bangkok to Dohavoyage takes the Oceania Aurelia from Southeast Asia to the Middle East. Then, Doha to Istanbulleg continues into the Mediterranean, connecting diverse cultures and landscapes along an extensive cruise.
The penultimate segment, Timeless Mediterranean, departs from Istanbul on June 20, 2028, and arrives in Barcelona 14 days later. The journey brings together some of the most renowned destinations of the eastern and western Mediterranean. Athens and Katakolon offer a glimpse into classical Greece, while Messina, Salerno, and Rome provide an introduction to Italy. The route continues to Florence, Pisa, and Livorno before heading to the French Riviera, with stops in Nice and Saint-Tropez, before arriving in Sète, Palamós, and finally Barcelona.
The final 14-day leg, Barcelona to New York , will depart from the Catalan capital . This will be the grand transatlantic crossing that will bring the journey to a close, connecting the Mediterranean with the American coast.
A ship designed to travel for months
The star of this round-the-world voyage will be the Oceania Aurelia, which will join the fleet in November 2027 and has been specifically designed for long-haul journeys. With 238 suites and cabins and around 400 crew members for fewer than 500 passengers, the ship aims to create a more intimate atmosphere, where service and space play a key role during long days at sea.
One of its key features is that 179 of the 238 accommodations are suites. The categories include the new Oceania and Horizon Suites, as well as the Owner's, Vista, and Penthouse Suites, all of which offer butler service. The company has paid special attention to the living spaces and outdoor areas so that the rooms function more as a residence during the trip than simply a place to spend the night.
