Following the success of this year's edition, one of the most unique events in Hapag-Lloyd Cruises returns to the EUROPA. From May 27 to 31, 2027, the small luxury ship will once again become the setting for "Gatsby Nights at Sea," an exclusive mini-cruise along the French Riviera that combines the glamour of the Roaring Twenties with contemporary luxury.
When champagne mingles with the sea breeze and the French Riviera bursts into springtime splendor, a new experience emerges that transcends the traditional cruise concept. Following its success in 2016 and the excellent reviews from passengers, Hapag-Lloyd Cruises has decided to revive this themed experience under the name “Savoir vivre on the French Riviera – with Gatsby Nights at Sea,” a getaway that combines culture, gastronomy, and elegance in some of the most iconic destinations of the Western Mediterranean.
“Our guests responded exceptionally well to this special offering. The onboard atmosphere, the combination of destinations, and the theme created a unique experience that truly inspired them. That's why we are delighted to be able to offer this format again next year,” explains Lisa Wilken, Head of the Luxury Segment at Hapag-Lloyd Cruises.
Over four nights, the itinerary will explore some of the most exclusive locations on the French Riviera and the Italian Riviera. The voyage will include stops in renowned destinations such as Portofino, a symbol of Mediterranean luxury for decades, where traditional architecture and a sophisticated atmosphere coexist by the sea.
The route continues through some of the biggest names on the French Riviera, such as Saint-Tropez, Cannes , and Nice, as well as Saint-Florent. All of them share a long tradition linked to art, film, fashion, and the Mediterranean lifestyle.
One of the most attractive aspects of the program will be the extended stop in Cannes, where the ship will remain docked until midnight, allowing passengers to enjoy a more relaxed stay and calmly explore the famous Boulevard de la Croisette and its lively nightlife.
The central moment of the trip will once again be the recreation of the so-called "Gatsby Nights", inspired by the sophisticated and exuberant atmosphere of the 1920s.
During one of the nights at sea, Deck 4 of the EUROPA will be transformed into an exclusive jazz-era club, with a carefully designed ambiance evoking the world of The Great Gatsby. Feathers, pearls, live music, cocktails, and a carefully curated culinary experience will recreate the spirit of a decade marked by optimism, creativity, and elegance.
More than a conventional show, the proposal seeks to immerse passengers in an immersive experience where music, design, gastronomy, and entertainment are integrated into a single concept. The intention is to reinterpret the spirit of the 1920s from a contemporary perspective, while maintaining its festive and sophisticated essence.
The experience takes place aboard the EUROPA, considered one of the most exclusive ships in the industry. With a maximum capacity of just 400 passengers, it focuses on an intimate and personalized experience, a far cry from the large vessels that currently dominate the market.
All guests stay in exterior suites, most with private balconies, and enjoy a service ratio of approximately one crew member per passenger. This approach allows for highly personalized attention and a relaxed, exclusive atmosphere.
The ship's compact size also offers operational advantages. Thanks to its dimensions, the EUROPA can access smaller, more exclusive ports and design itineraries with less common stops. In addition, carefully selected excursions allow you to discover each destination from a more authentic and personalized perspective.
The combination of iconic destinations, themed experiences, and top-notch service has made Gatsby Nights one of Hapag-Lloyd Cruises' most original offerings. With its return in 2027, the cruise line is once again betting on a formula that blends culture, entertainment, and gastronomy in an environment where travel is understood as a comprehensive and meticulously designed experience.
