Villa Vie Residences suspends its operations in Cambodia while it works to cope with the extraordinary increase in fuel costs and evaluates various restructuring and recapitalization alternatives.
Fuel costs have risen considerably in the regions where the company operates. Per cabin, and on a like-for-like basis, monthly fuel costs have recently reached exorbitant levels in some parts of Asia. The company cannot directly pass on increases of this magnitude to its customers, which has placed its current operating model under unsustainable financial pressure.
The company is working with residents to coordinate their disembarkation and identify temporary accommodations. Villa Vie Residences acknowledges that this situation is a difficult and disruptive time for residents, crew members, and employees, and is working to support those affected as plans are developed.
“Since the conflict began in late February, we have taken significant steps to reduce fuel consumption, including slowing our itinerary and spending more time in port. These measures have not been enough to offset the extraordinary increase in fuel costs, and we have been unable to continue absorbing the resulting operational losses. Passing the full increase on to residents is not a realistic solution.”.
"Our goal now is to support the residents, crew, and employees while we work on a restructuring and recapitalization over the next 60 days. This process is ongoing, and there are no guarantees about the outcome.".
Villa Vie Residences continues to evaluate potential future options, although no financial transaction has yet been finalized. The company will provide further updates as significant developments occur.
