Riviera Travel has announced early booking for a selection of its 2028 river cruises, allowing travelers to secure cabins, departure dates, and promotional fares well in advance. The initial lineup includes five of the company's best-selling itineraries on the Douro, Danube, Rhine, and Rhône rivers, all eight-day cruises with a comprehensive program of shore excursions.
The decision to bring forward sales is a response to the strong growth experienced by Riviera Travel in North America over the past two years.
“The decision to open sales for 2028 earlier than usual is in response to unprecedented demand from American travelers,” explains Stuart Milan, President of Riviera Travel for North America. “In less than two years, we have solidified our presence in this market and created a product that travelers trust and want to be a part of.”.
As an incentive for the first bookings, the company is offering temporary discounts of up to 50% off the regular price of these itineraries.
The initial schedule for 2028 includes five of Riviera Travel's most representative river cruises:
– Highlights of the Douro Valley & Salamanca
This eight-day itinerary explores the Douro Valley, combining wine landscapes, historical heritage, and Portuguese and Spanish culture.
It includes nine excursions at no extra cost, including a visit to Guimarães, considered the birthplace of Portugal and declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
– The Blue Danube
An eight-day tour along one of Europe's most iconic rivers, allowing you to discover cities like Basel, Salzburg and Vienna, as well as other historical sites along the Danube.
The program incorporates nine experiences focused on the region's cultural and architectural heritage.
– The Douro, Porto & Salamanca
This journey begins in Porto, the home city of Port wine, before venturing for eight days into traditional villages and medieval towns of the Douro Valley.
Passengers will enjoy ten included experiences, with a special focus on the culture, gastronomy and landscapes of northern Portugal and Castile and León.
– Rhine Cruise to Switzerland
The itinerary navigates one of the most spectacular stretches of the Rhine, including the passage through the Rhine Gorge, as well as a railway journey through the Bernese Oberland in Switzerland.
The cruise includes ten excursions that allow you to discover some of the most impressive landscapes in Europe.
– Burgundy, the River Rhone & Provence
This eight-day tour allows you to explore the vineyards of Burgundy, the Rhône Valley, and the Provence region.
Among the eleven experiences included, the visit to the spectacular Ardèche Gorges stands out, in addition to other historical and gastronomic sites in the south of France.
According to the company, the early opening of bookings will allow travelers to access greater availability of cabins and departure dates, as well as benefit from significant launch discounts.
The announcement coincides with the recent addition to the fleet of the Riviera Resplendence, the company's new riverboat, which operates itineraries on the Danube and Rhine rivers, reinforcing Riviera Travel's offering in some of its most popular European destinations.
With this strategy, Riviera Travel seeks to respond to the growing interest in river cruises and consolidate its international expansion, especially in the North American market, where demand continues to increase.
