P&O Cruises has revamped the food offerings at its popular gastropub Keel & Cow, located on board the Arvia and Iona ships, with the aim of providing its passengers with a higher-level modern steakhouse experience.
The new menus were launched at Iona on July 4th and at Arvia on July 5th, incorporating new dishes and a greater variety of options, without abandoning the classics that have made this restaurant a guest favorite.
The revamped menu includes a selection of starters, main courses and desserts, as well as expanding vegan options and lighter choices for the summer season.
Among the new starters are the prawn cocktail, the chicken liver pâté with brandy, Southern-style fried chicken with truffle aioli and Parmesan, and the vegan fish cake made with jackfruitandnori seaweed, served with tartar sauce, among others. The steakhouse remains the star of the show, and the menu continues to focus on a selection of grilled meats, including rump steak, sirloin, entrecote, and ribeye. All are served with a choice of sauces and sides, most notably the new triple-cooked fries, designed to deliver the authentic steakhouse experience.
New main courses also include pork chop with chimichurri hasselback potatoes, grilled salmon with Cajun spices, or the Keel & Cow Best of Both Beef Crumpet, a creation that combines five-hour cooked beef brisket, Black Angus sirloin, mushrooms, crispy onions, and red wine sauce on a traditional crumpet.
The new menu retains some of the restaurant's most popular dishes, including steak & ale pie, chicken and ham hock, and the traditional fish & chips.
The dessert menu also includes new offerings, such as the triple chocolate brownie, or the Keel & Cow Strawberry Eton Mess, served with strawberry ice cream.
Paul Ludlow, President of Carnival UK and P&O Cruises, emphasized the importance of gastronomy within the cruise experience: “Food is a fundamental part of the holiday, and our guests constantly tell us how much they value the variety and quality of the dining options available across the fleet. The new Keel & Cow menu retains everything passengers already appreciate about the restaurant, while also introducing innovative dishes, greater variety, and more refined presentation. Whether it’s a perfectly cooked steak, a classic British pub fare, or one of our new lighter options, there’s something for everyone.”
More than 30 dining options on board
P&O Cruises offers more than 30 restaurants, bars, and dining and drinking venues on both the Arvia and the Iona. In addition, its Food Heroes program brings together some of the most renowned figures in British cuisine, such as chef Marco Pierre White, considered one of the leading figures in UK gastronomy; beverage expert Olly Smith; and the prestigious Spanish chef José Pizarro, who collaborate to create exclusive culinary experiences for passengers.
Guests traveling on board the Arvia or the Iona can pre-book their table at Keel & Cow before the start of the cruise.
