The Marghera shipyard, part of the Italian Fincantieri group, hosted the steel-cutting ceremony for Crystal Grace, the new, state-of-the-art luxury cruise ship that will join the Crystal. Delivery is scheduled for spring 2028, and the ship will be part of a new series of three sister ships designed to strengthen the cruise line's presence in the high-end cruise segment.
The event was attended by Cristina Levis, CEO of Abercrombie & Kent Travel Group (AKTG), owner of the Crystal brand; Luigi Matarazzo, Managing Director of Fincantieri's Merchant Ship Division; and Marco Lunardi, Director of the Marghera shipyard.
The future Crystal Grace will have a gross tonnage of 62,000 tons and capacity for 650 passengers, maintaining the philosophy of exclusivity and personalized service that characterizes the brand.
The interior design has been developed by prestigious international architecture and design studios, with particular attention to high-quality materials, handcrafted finishes, and spacious, elegant interiors. All of this is geared towards providing a hospitality experience focused on maximum comfort and guest well-being.
One of the project's highlights will be its high crew-to-passenger ratio, among the highest in its segment. This feature will allow for highly personalized service, spacious common areas, top-tier entertainment options, and a selection of itineraries designed to provide more authentic and immersive experiences at the destinations visited.
The construction of the Crystal Grace reinforces the strong relationship between Fincantieri and Crystal, a collaboration that has been consolidated over the past few years. In 2023, the Italian group completed a comprehensive refurbishment of the Crystal Serenity and Crystal Symphony ships at the Arsenale Triestino San Marco, a project that included the complete modernization of public spaces, cabins, and suites, as well as significant technological and environmental improvements.
That renovation contributed decisively to the relaunch of the Crystal brand under the management of Abercrombie & Kent Travel Group and consolidated Fincantieri's leadership in the luxury ship refurbishment and modernization sector.
With the start of construction of the Crystal Grace, both companies are taking a new step in their growth strategy, betting on a new generation of luxury cruise ships that will combine design, technological innovation, sustainability and top-level service.
