TUI Cruises has announced the three official godmothers of the new Mein Schiff Flow, a groundbreaking decision for the company. For the first time in its history, a ship will not be sponsored by a single person, but by three women representing different generations and ways of experiencing the Mein Schiff: Julia (20 years old), Annabelle (35), and Karin (67).
The christening ceremony of the Mein Schiff Flow will take place on June 20th in the port of Trieste and will also mark a new concept of celebration for the shipping company, with an experience spread across different areas of the ship and designed to involve guests more closely.
The selection of the three godmothers comes after intense participation from the Mein Schiff community. More than 24,000 votes and nearly 900 nominations reflected the strong emotional connection passengers have with the brand. Initially conceived as a traditional process to choose a single godmother, the project evolved thanks to the support of the company's followers and the internal jury's joint decision to select three complementary profiles.
“When people connect their stories with TUI Cruises, it creates more than just a vacation. It fosters a genuine sense of belonging across generations,” said Wybcke Meier, CEO of TUI Cruises. “We wanted three strong personalities who, together, would represent the diversity of our guests and perfectly embody the spirit of the Mein Schiff Flow.”.
Each of the godmothers maintains a special relationship with the brand and with the world of cruises.
Julia discovered Mein Schiff as a child, during a transatlantic crossing between Hamburg and New York in 2016. That trip sparked a passion for the sea and adventure that she still cherishes. As a representative of a new generation of cruisers, she symbolizes curiosity, international openness, and the desire to explore the world.
For Annabelle, the sea is much more than a destination. Throughout her 25 cruises with Mein Schiff, she has found friendships, unforgettable experiences, and even love. The future godmother affirms that the true magic of travel lies in the simplest moments: a peaceful morning on deck, a coffee overlooking the horizon, or the calm of the ocean at dawn.
Karin, for her part, is one of the company's most loyal passengers. After more than 50 trips with the fleet, she has special memories of each of Mein Schiff's ships. Her friendly and optimistic nature reflects, according to the company, the very essence of cruising: enjoying life, sharing experiences, and creating unforgettable memories.
The three bridesmaids were personally surprised on board by designer Guido Maria Kretschmer, who will also dress them for the ceremony in exclusive creations from his couture collection. “It’s a beautiful symbol of modern connection, and I love the idea that there will now be three bridesmaids,” the designer stated.
The Mein Schiff Flow's maiden voyage and christening will begin on June 17 and culminate with the official ceremony on the 20th. It will also feature live performances by artists such as Rea Garvey and Tim Bendzko.
Following the event, Julia, Annabelle and Karin will share the spotlight in one of the most emblematic traditions of the cruise industry, thus consolidating a new stage for TUI Cruises and for the Mein Schiff Flow itself.
