As Scenic Group celebrates 40 years of innovation, the company enters a major expansion phase, with nine new ships to be added between 2026 and 2028. This milestone reinforces its continued leadership in ultra-luxury and luxury travel, encompassing river, ocean, and expedition cruises worldwide.
The expansion is already underway with the successful debut of Emerald Kaia in April 2026, followed by the highly anticipated launch of Emerald Astra on European rivers in May 2026.
Building on this momentum, the company will introduce more river and ocean vessels during 2027 and 2028, culminating in the debut of the Scenic Ikon Discovery Yacht and Emerald Xara, along with the global expansion of the Scenic Eclipse II.
Growth Plan 2026–2028
- 2026: Emerald Kaia (already released), Emerald Astra (May)
- 2027: Emerald Lumi, Emerald Nova, Emerald Raiya, Scenic Aria (Douro River)
- 2028: Scenic Spirit II (Mekong), Scenic Ikon Discovery Yacht, Emerald Xara
A key aspect of this expansion is the growth of the luxury yacht collection. In 2028, the debut of Emerald Xara and the return of Scenic Eclipse II to Australia, Kimberley, and the South Pacific will mark a milestone in the group's global strategy.
After two years of successful operations in the region, Scenic Eclipse II will return, driven by strong demand. At the same time, Emerald Xara will inaugurate a new phase of cruising in Asia and Australia, becoming the first Emerald Cruises yacht to explore these regions.
Emerald Xara will operate 14 new itineraries, including destinations such as Japan, South Korea, Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore, and Indonesia (Raja Ampat), before heading towards Darwin and the remote Kimberley coast. For the first time, travelers will be able to explore this region with both brands.
Scenic Eclipse II Programming
The Scenic Eclipse II 's expanded 2028 program will include routes from Tahiti through the South Pacific to Kimberley, continuing north through Australia to Hobart, then on to New Zealand and East Antarctica (Ross Sea), before sailing past the Spice Islands in Indonesia and back to Northeast Asia.
Scenic Ikon Discovery Yacht
Two years after its inaugural voyage, the Scenic Ikon Discovery Yacht is already generating high demand, with several initial departures sold out in the Mediterranean, Aegean, Adriatic and Antarctic.
Designed as the evolution of the Scenic experience, the ship will accommodate 270 guests in 135 terrace suites; the 250 m² Ikon Penthouse suite with private spa; a 1,700 m² spa on two levels; 15 all-inclusive dining experiences; and 8 bars and lounges.
According to Glen Moroney, founder and president of Scenic Group, the ship is the result of more than three years of innovation and development, designed to offer unparalleled experiences in destinations around the world.
Gastronomy will be a key element on board, with offerings designed to provide unique and unparalleled experiences, elevating cruise cuisine to a new level. Exclusive experiences for the 2028/2029 season:
- Helicopter flight included (20 minutes, 30 in Antarctica) for advance bookings
- Exclusive experiences for Penthouse Suite guests
The Scenic Ikon will encompass 110 ports, 21 countries, and 26 new destinations across Europe, the Atlantic, Africa, and Antarctica. Itineraries will offer a more immersive experience with extended stays and overnight departures.
