Margaritaville at Sea has renamed its third and largest ship, formerly known as Costa Fortuna, as Beachcomber. The vessel will feature a design inspired by its sister ships Islander and Paradise, but will exceed 100,000 gross tons and offer an expanded range of onboard spaces and experiences.
According to the company, the ship's design will reflect the brand's characteristic coastal and informal aesthetic, incorporating vibrant colors and beach-themed decor throughout its spaces.
“With Beachcomber, we wanted to create a design that captured the spirit of fun, warmth, and laid-back adventure,” said Martha Brabham, head of design at Margaritaville at Sea. “We drew inspiration from nostalgic beach scenes, vintage surf art, and that carefree escapist spirit that defines the brand.”
“The result is a cheerful and instantly familiar design, which continues the award-winning aesthetic we introduced with Islander in 2024,” he added.
Beachcomber, acquired from Costa Cruises in May of this year, will combine familiar spaces with new concepts. Family-friendly areas include the 5 o'Clock Somewhere Bar, Hemisphere Dancer, Cheeseburger in Paradise, and License to Chill.
Margaritaville at Sea has confirmed that more than 15 new exclusive Beachcomber.
“Beachcomber isn’t just our largest ship; it’s a floating celebration of everything our guests love about Margaritaville at Sea hospitality,” said Christopher Ivy, CEO of the company. “Building on the success of Islander, we set out to create an even more immersive, fun, and surprising experience.”
More details about the itineraries, home port, and inaugural season of Beachcomber to be announced throughout the summer.
This ship represents the next step in Margaritaville at Sea's expansion strategy, following the debut of Islander in 2024, which marked the beginning of longer itineraries and a greater variety of Caribbean destinations.
The ship will continue to operate under the Costa flag until the end of 2026, when it will be refurbished and officially relaunched under the Margaritaville brand.
Originally delivered in 2003, the Costa Fortuna, with 102,500 gross tons, will become the largest ship in the Margaritaville at Sea fleet, accommodating approximately 3,450 passengers spread across 13 passenger decks and more than 1,340 cabins.
