This is the third Fun Ship in the Excel class, following the Carnival Celebration and the Mardi Gras. The Carnival Jubilee, with a gross tonnage of 183,000, has a capacity for 6,400 passengers and 1,750 crew members.
Carnival President Christine Duffy , along with Ben Clement, senior vice president of new builds, refurbishments and product innovation , and the ship's senior officers, joined Jan Meyer of the Meyer Group for the delivery celebrations in Bremerhaven.
The Carnival Jubilee is scheduled to arrive in Galveston on December 20 to begin year-round, week-long cruises on December 23.
“Carnival Jubilee is the fifth additional ship we’ve welcomed to our fleet since 2021 and an integral part of our growth strategy. This ship will bring our most dynamic entertainment offering to one of our most popular homeports and will be a great addition to our plans to remain the number one cruise line in Galveston,” said Duffy.
“From the thrill of the BOLT roller coaster to a slice of paradise at the Serenity retreat, and much more, we're offering a new level of fun to our guests sailing from Galveston that will complement our current and future operations there“.
First LNG-fueled cruise ship in Galveston
The ship is Carnival's third vessel powered by liquefied natural gas and the first cruise ship in Galveston to use this fuel. It will operate from Terminal 25, which was upgraded for the Carnival Jubilee.
Carnival was the first cruise line to sail year-round from the Texas port in 2001, and the new ship with a Texas star on its bow will join the Carnival Breeze and Carnival Dream in port as part of a four-ship deployment plan that will be completed when the Carnival Miracle repositions to Galveston in October 2024.
The Carnival Jubilee is the twenty-sixth ship in the Carnival fleet.
In addition to the Carnival Jubilee, additions to the Carnival fleet since 2021 include Mardi Gras (2021), Carnival Luminosa (2022), Carnival Celebration (2022), and Carnival Venezia (2023). Carnival Firenze will join in April 2024.
