The “Civil War Battlefields Cruise” will travel through 13 states and the major theaters of the American Civil War.
Travelers can visit nearly all of the major Civil War battlefields on a new 35-day itinerary offered by American Cruise Lines.
It will be on three ships, starting on May 4, 2024 in New Orleans and ending on June 6 in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania.
The itinerary covers 13 states and the three major theaters of the war. Each day will highlight battlefields and events, from Fort Sumter and Shiloh to Vicksburg and Antietam.
The onboard experience will provide context to each day's exploration and offer a deeper understanding of the war as a whole. Historians will be present at every stage of the journey to discuss the motives, strategies, and personalities that drove each side of the war.
This cruise will be led by Bertram Hayes-Davis, great-great-grandson of Jefferson Davis, who represented Mississippi in both the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives and was president of the Confederate States from 1861 to 1865.
Hayes-Davis, a scholar of the Civil War, will offer a personal perspective on the events and battles.
The cruise travels along the Mississippi, Tennessee and Potomac rivers, the East Coast Intracoastal Waterway and the Chesapeake Bay.
Rates per person start at $24,700, with a $5,000 deposit at the time of booking.
