The proposed port discounts and the destination's offerings for passengers are highly valued by shipping companies .
The participation of a delegation from Malaga, made up of representatives from the Port Authority, Malagaport, the City Council's Tourism Department, Tourism and Planning Costa del Sol, the Andalusian Regional Government's Ministry of Tourism and Sport, and Malaga Cruises, in 'Seatrade Global' proved very positive for the strategic planning of the companies, which are studying the possibility of positioning Malaga as a home port in the coming years.
As a continuation of the commercial activity carried out last February, in which meetings were held with representatives of the most important shipping companies based in the United States, the delegation attended this event to complete its agenda of professional contacts, in which meetings were held with American and European companies, such as Royal Caribbean, Celebrity Cruises, Windstar Cruises, Crystal Cruises, Disney Cruise Line, among others.
These companies highlighted the joint work of the port and city representatives and the initiatives carried out by the delegation to publicize the services, port infrastructure and the destination's offerings.
The delegation noted that in passenger surveys conducted by cruise lines, which provide cruise passengers with feedback on the quality and services of port of call, Málaga consistently ranks among the top destinations in the Mediterranean, showing improvement over previous years. It is also worth highlighting the growing trend of including Málaga in Atlantic routes, thanks in part to its strategic location. This could lead to its inclusion in itineraries that call at ports in Portugal, the Canary Islands, and Morocco.
Finally, once again, the delegation participated in the Workshop organized by the Spanish Tourism Office (OET) in Miami, where representatives from Spanish ports and destinations met with itinerary planners from US cruise lines. During the workshop, Málaga was once again presented as a gateway to Andalusia. This meeting has become one of the most important events of the trade fair, due to the large number of cruise lines in attendance, facilitating networking opportunities with their executives.
