MSC Cruises ' latest flagship , MSC World Asia, has successfully completed its final sea trials as part of preparations for its delivery on November 25, 2026.
Final sea trials took place this week in the Atlantic Ocean off the west coast of France to test the ship's engines, maneuverability, energy efficiency, safety systems, speed, and braking distances, confirming its readiness as it nears completion. Initial sea trials were completed in July.
This new ship will join the fleet as MSC Cruises' 24th vessel and the third LNG-powered World Class ship. MSC World Asia builds on the success of the World Class platform. Each ship in the series is designed to be a destination in itself, where innovation meets elegance, and every detail is carefully considered to enhance every moment on board.
MSC World Asia will offer passengers the ultimate cruise experience with over 40 bars, lounges and restaurants, international entertainment options, a wide range of family facilities and much more.
The ship will run seven-night itineraries from Barcelona with stops in some of the most popular destinations in the Mediterranean, including Marseille, Genoa and Civitavecchia (to visit Rome), Messina and Valletta, with accessible boarding available at all ports.
The ship will now undergo final touches at the Chantiers de l'Atlantique shipyard in Saint-Nazaire, France, before its official delivery to MSC Cruises on November 25. MSC World Asia will be officially inaugurated on November 28 in Le Havre, France, in a spectacular ceremony that will bring together key figures from the global tourism industry, international media, partners, and guests for an evening that blends maritime tradition with contemporary celebration.
Passengers will make their first trip on December 4, when the ship sets sail from Barcelona on its inaugural seven-night voyage.
Among its most outstanding attractions is The Spiral @ Tree of Life, the longest dry slide at sea, at 81.3 meters long; this exciting attraction takes passengers down at full speed through 12 decks with stunning ocean views.
The ship features subtle design elements that reflect the rich culture, art, and landscapes of Asia, including a stunning 12-meter-long by 9-meter-wide dragon sculpture on the World Promenade, suspended 10 meters high.
MSC World Asia is one of the most efficient cruise ships currently sailing the seas; it uses LNG as fuel and can also run on renewable biofuels and synthetic LNG-based fuels. The ship is equipped with a shore power connection, allowing the engines to be shut down while in port, thus eliminating local emissions and improving air quality in the area.
