Holland America Line will bring forward the Holland America Evolution transformation of the Oosterdam by five weeks in response to high passenger demand to experience the refurbished ship. The Oosterdam will begin its refurbishment work ahead of schedule and will return to service with its first post- Evolution cruise , departing on October 31, 2027.
The new schedule will allow Holland America Line to add five additional cruises aboard the Oosterdam , with itineraries in the Mediterranean, the Atlantic, and the Caribbean. To make the Evolution, several previously scheduled cruises between September 11 and December 9, 2027, have been canceled. Affected passengers and travel agents are being contacted directly to inform them about their rebooking options. The ship's refurbishment will take place in Marseille, France.

Holland America Evolution builds on the experiences that have defined the company for years and combines new enhancements with the premium service, carefully designed itineraries, and welcoming atmosphere that passengers expect from Holland America Line.
After its time in dry dock, the Oosterdam will embark on its first cruise since its transformation: a 10-day itinerary between Civitavecchia (Rome) and Trieste, departing on October 31, 2027. Passengers on this voyage will be among the first to discover the renovated ship as they visit various destinations in Italy, Greece, Montenegro, and Croatia.
The other four new cruise ships will be:
- An 11-day Mediterranean itinerary, from Trieste to Piraeus (Athens), departing on November 10, 2027.
- A seven-day Mediterranean cruise from Piraeus to Barcelona, departing on November 21, 2027.
- A 13-day transatlantic crossing from Barcelona to Fort Lauderdale (Florida), departing on November 28, 2027.
- An 11-day Caribbean itinerary, departing from and returning to Fort Lauderdale, starting on December 11, 2027.
These new itineraries will offer passengers the first opportunities to discover the latest Evolution aboard the Oosterdam in different regions.
Passengers who have already booked what were previously planned as the ship's first cruise and first transatlantic crossing in December 2027 will have the option to transfer their booking to the corresponding new itineraries and continue to be part of the group of first passengers to travel aboard the Oosterdam after its transformation.
The new cruise ships will be available for sale in early October.
