Claire Weiss, Portfolio Executive Creative Director, presented new details about Disney Cruise Line 's newest ship , the Disney Believe. The announcement included a first look at plans for the ship's Grand Hall and the artistic elements that will decorate its exterior, including models of the character sculptures that will be installed on the stern and the relief design that will be featured on the bow.
Like its sister ships—Disney Wish, Disney Treasure, and Disney Destiny—the Grand Hall on the Disney Believe will be a central gathering space for passengers, inspired by one of Disney's most beloved stories. On the Disney Believe, the Grand Hall will be imbued with the optimistic spirit of exploration from Disney Animation's Moana.
A bronze statue of Moana, accompanied by her loyal companions Pua and Heihei, will be a central feature of the space, gazing proudly toward new horizons. The never-before-seen image also reveals influences from the idyllic South Pacific setting featured in the film, combined with Polynesian-inspired handcrafted finishes that pay homage to the region's cultural traditions.
The whimsical details designed for the exterior hull of the Disney Believe were also unveiled. Following a long-standing Disney Cruise Line tradition, each new ship, including the Disney Believe, features its own exclusive character artwork, bringing a nostalgic touch of Disney magic to every vessel.
A new image has revealed life-size sculptures of Woody and Buzz Lightyear aboard the Disney Believe. The inseparable duo from the Disney and Pixar films Toy Story will appear working together to write the ship's name on the back of the vessel using large yellow crayons. Instead of the classic flowing script seen on the Disney Cruise Line fleet, Woody and Buzz will be using whimsical lettering that mimics the franchise's famous block-style typography.
Those attending D23 and watching the live stream also discovered that the bow of the Disney Believe will be adorned with a delicate, hand-painted filigree of Tinker Bell, just as she first appeared in Walt Disney Animation Studios' 1953 classic, Peter Pan. The lively fairy will be accompanied by silhouettes of Peter Pan, Wendy, Captain Hook, and other characters from the film, who will appear to float among the undulating lines of the design.
“This ship celebrates the belief in magic, family, the power of nature, and self-confidence,” Claire explained to the audience. “And all the stories we’ll tell on board will be connected by Disney’s core idea of believing in something fantastic.”.
