The Oceania Insignia, currently part of the Oceania Cruises, will begin a new chapter in November 2027 when it joins the German company Phoenix Reisen under the name Alvara. This move will allow the veteran ship to continue sailing with a new identity, after nearly three decades in the cruise industry.
Built in 1998, the ship has a capacity for approximately 700 passengers. Before entering service with Phoenix Reisen, a refurbishment is scheduled for September 2027 at the Lloyd Werft shipyard in Bremerhaven, Germany. During this refurbishment, the ship will adopt the German shipping company's corporate livery, characterized by turquoise and white colors.
The addition of Alvara will culminate, according to the information released, with a christening ceremony scheduled for November 26, 2027, in Hamburg. This date will officially mark the beginning of a new chapter for the ship within the Phoenix Reisen fleet.
The ship's story began in 1998, when it was built for Renaissance Cruises under the name R One. In 2003 it became part of Oceania Cruises, the company with which it has spent much of its subsequent history.
Its future incorporation into Phoenix Reisen will mark a new chapter for this ship, which will maintain its activity in the cruise market after the planned renovation and the change of image and name.
