Star Clippers has appointed Leo Chang as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Chang brings more than three decades of experience in senior management positions, as well as deep expertise in strategic growth and operational excellence. In his new role, he will be responsible for operations, growth initiatives, expanding Star Clippers' global footprint, and developing the brand of its exclusive fleet.
This appointment represents a strategic transition for Star Clippers, a company founded in 1989 by passionate sailor Mikael Krafft. Under his founding vision, the company grew to operate three of the largest passenger sailing ships currently in service: Star Flyer and Star Clipper, both four-masted barque-brigs, and the flagship Royal Clipper, a five-masted, fully rigged sailing ship. The brand remains committed to offering its guests the romance of traditional sailing combined with the comforts of a modern megayacht.

Leo Chang joins Star Clippers at a pivotal time for the industry, which is experiencing unprecedented demand for boutique, sustainable travel experiences away from the most crowded destinations. Prior to joining Star Clippers, he served as Director of Business Development at Lindblad Expeditions, where he led corporate development and strategic planning, driving significant fleet growth initiatives and expanding the offering of land-based adventure travel. He previously served as Chief Financial Officer of Frontida BioPharm, Inc. and held various senior positions at Jefferies.
