The Royal Clipper, Star Clippers ' flagship and the world's largest five-masted sailing ship, will embark on in-depth explorations of the Adriatic Sea. With stops at less-traveled ports and historic centers in Croatia, Montenegro, and Italy, the seven-night "Croatia and Montenegro" itinerary offers guests the chance to escape the tourist crowds and experience the local flavors and cultures of these hidden gems.
The sailing ship will depart from Venice and return every Saturday, from June 27 to August 22, 2026. In Croatia, passengers will visit Šibenik, a charming Adriatic coastal city that offers all the allure and rich history of Split and Dubrovnik, but with fewer tourists and a culinary heritage rooted in its fertile soil. Another Croatian gem is Vis (Komiza), founded in 397 BC, whose pristine beaches remain largely untouched by tourism. Rovinj, with its numerous churches, monuments, and long history, and Dubrovnik, with its vibrant past and 10th-century walls, complete the Croatian stops.
In Montenegro, passengers will visit Kotor, founded by the Romans and fortified during the Byzantine era. It is one of the best-preserved cities on the Adriatic. Known as the “city of cats” for the large number of felines that are part of its history and culture, its winding streets, Romanesque churches, and natural landscapes make it an ideal destination for a stroll before enjoying a beer or coffee in one of its charming cafes.
In Italy, guests will discover Pesaro, the birthplace of 19th-century opera composer Gioachino Rossini. With its relaxed coastal atmosphere, Pesaro holds the title of UNESCO Creative City of Music. Visitors can explore Rossini's house and museum, cathedrals and churches dating back to the 5th century, stroll along its promenade overlooking the Adriatic, or enjoy its picturesque beaches.
With 42 sails and nearly 5,200 square meters of sail area, the Royal Clipper—accommodating up to 227 passengers—combines the classic character of a traditional sailing ship with the amenities of a modern cruise vessel. Onboard, it offers an open deck, three swimming pools, a marine platform for water sports, a three-level restaurant, and a fully equipped spa and fitness center. The Royal Clipper sails year-round in the Western Mediterranean and the Caribbean.
One of the most popular activities for passengers is climbing to the crow's nest on the mast, 23 meters above sea level, which offers a spectacular view of the ship and the surrounding landscape. Another popular spot is the bowsprit net, where guests can relax with the ocean at their feet.
