Marella Cruises has unveiled its winter 2027 schedule, confirming that the Marella Discovery 2 will permanently become an adults-only ship. As part of this transformation, the cruise line will invest in the creation of four new spaces designed exclusively for adult passengers. The winter schedule will feature its entire fleet of five ships, with sailings from six homeports in Europe and the Caribbean, as well as transatlantic and repositioning cruises. All itineraries will be available for purchase starting July 2, 2026.
During the 2027 winter season, the Marella Discovery 2 will be based in Tenerife and Gran Canaria between November 2027 and March 2028, and will subsequently operate from Malaga between March and April 2028. The ship's transformation will involve replacing the current children's areas with four new spaces exclusively for adults: a speakeasy, an escape room, a karaoke room, and a space dedicated to crafts and creative activities.
The rest of the Marella Cruises ships will operate from different ports in Europe and the Caribbean:
- Marella Discovery will be based in La Romana (Dominican Republic) between November 2027 and March 2028, before moving to Palma de Mallorca between March and April 2028.
- Marella Explorer will alternate its operations between Santa Cruz de Tenerife and Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, offering various itineraries around the Canary Islands throughout the season.
- Marella Voyager and Marella Explorer 2 —the latter also exclusively for adults— will make itineraries around the Caribbean with Barbados as the home port.
New itinerary through the Canary Islands and Morocco
For the winter of 2027, the Marella Discovery 2 will debut the new seven-night itinerary “Atlantic Fusion”, which also marks the company's return to Agadir (Morocco).
The cruise will depart from Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and will include stops in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Puerto del Rosario (Fuerteventura), Arrecife (Lanzarote), Agadir, a day of sailing, Santa Cruz de La Palma and return to Las Palmas.
Repositioning cruises and transatlantic crossings
The program will also include a selection of repositioning cruises of between five and eight nights, such as “Canarian Collection 2”, departing from Malaga and stopping in Gibraltar, a day of sailing, Funchal (Madeira) —with an overnight stay on board—, Santa Cruz de La Palma, Arrecife (Lanzarote), Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
Marella Cruises will also offer 13- and 14-night transatlantic cruises. Among them is “Voyage to the Tropics,” aboard the Marella Discovery, which will depart from Malaga with stops in Gibraltar, an eight-day sailing period, St. John's (Antigua), Basseterre (St. Kitts), Philipsburg (Sint Maarten), Road Town (British Virgin Islands), and will end in La Romana (Dominican Republic).
More options to combine a cruise and a stay
The company will also expand its Cruise & Stay program, adding 39 new hotels in Málaga, Gran Canaria, Tenerife, La Romana, Barbados, and Palma de Mallorca, bringing the total to 197 properties for those wishing to combine a cruise with a stay on land. These packages will be available from 12 regional UK airports operated by TUI Airways.
In addition, the Marella Explorer will spend one night docked in Funchal (Madeira) during the Christmas itinerary “A Canarian Christmas”, departing on December 23, 2027, allowing passengers to enjoy the festive atmosphere of the island with greater peace of mind.
