MSC Cruises celebrates that there are six months left until the first voyage of MSC World Asia, the company's new flagship, and confirms that the ship's official inauguration will take place on November 28, 2026 in Le Havre, France.
As the latest addition to the World Class fleet, MSC World Asia will feature subtle design elements inspired by Asia’s rich culture, art and landscapes, and will combine regular passenger favorites with innovative new concepts designed to elevate entertainment, dining and relaxation at sea.
From the longest water slide at sea to more than 40 bars and restaurants, and immersive entertainment venues offering memorable experiences both day and night, MSC World Asia is ready to offer something for all types of travelers.
The ship will be inaugurated in a ceremony that will bring together, in Le Havre (France), key figures from the global tourism sector, international media, partners and other guests, in an evening that will combine maritime tradition with contemporary celebration.
Gianni Onorato, CEO of MSC Cruises, stated: “Our World Class ships have been a huge success with passengers, and MSC World Asia, the third of eight in this class, marks the next step in this journey. As we head into its inaugural season in the Mediterranean, we are proud to continue offering ships that reflect our vision, innovation, design, and focus on the passenger experience, each one raising the bar even higher.”
I am also proud to announce that Captain Paolo Benini will take the helm of MSC World Asia, in recognition of his outstanding leadership in command of MSC Euribia, including during its recent deployment to Dubai. Having joined MSC Cruises in 2024 with a distinguished maritime career, he is widely respected for his calm and people-focused command, and is the ideal choice to lead this extraordinary new flagship.”.
Following the official inauguration ceremony held in Le Havre, including the traditional breaking of a champagne bottle on the bow, MSC World Asia will begin its inaugural season in the Mediterranean from Barcelona on December 4, offering seven-night itineraries to iconic destinations such as Marseille, Messina, Civitavecchia (to visit Rome), Naples and Valletta.
In addition to these popular destinations, passengers will also enjoy memorable onboard experiences. Just six months before departure, MSC Cruises unveils the highlights that combine adrenaline and surprise for passengers of all ages, including:
The Cliffhanger
For the first time in Europe, passengers aboard MSC World Asia will be able to experience The Cliffhanger, MSC Cruises' thrilling attraction featuring a swing 50 meters above the open sea. The ride propels passengers forward and backward high above the ocean, offering breathtaking views and a unique excitement.
The Spiral @ Tree of Life
Measuring 81.3 meters in length, making it the longest dry slide at sea, The Spiral @ Tree of Life will offer passengers a thrilling ride spanning 11 decks in just seconds. Inspired by the iconic trees of Singapore's Gardens by the Bay, this striking architectural feature combines adrenaline and design while seamlessly integrating with the ship's Asian-inspired elements.
The Twin Racer & U Drop water slides
Passengers seeking high-speed fun can race side-by-side on the Twin Racer water slides or take the plunge down the U Drop slide for thrilling high above the deck. Designed for friendly competition and shared moments, these attractions bring even more energy to the Family Adventure district.
Adventure Trail Rope Course
The Adventure Trail ropes course challenges riders to test their balance and courage along a two-level course suspended over the ocean. Covering 577 square meters and equipped with zip-line-like Sky Rails, the attraction combines adrenaline-pumping fun with spectacular ocean views.
MSC Formula Racer
Perfect for both Formula 1® fans and racing enthusiasts, MSC Formula Racer, located in the Hall of Games, offers passengers a fully immersive racing simulation experience. The two-seater simulator allows passengers to virtually drive a Formula 1® car at high speed, reflecting MSC Cruises' ongoing global partnership with Formula 1®.
MSC Luna Park Arena
MSC Luna Park Arena is set to become one of MSC Cruises' most innovative and interactive entertainment venues to date. Thanks to immersive digital technology, the deck transforms into an interactive space where passengers can compete in dynamic gaming experiences—a first for MSC Cruises ships. The venue will also host original game shows, such as Code Breakers, Labyrinth, and Chart Toppers, as well as lively themed parties and shows spread across two decks.
Beyond its exciting attractions, MSC World Asia will feature more than 40 bars, lounges and restaurants, immersive family entertainment, seven pools and 13 jacuzzis, carefully selected artwork inspired by traditional Asian landscapes, and the largest variety of MSC Yacht Club suites to date.
