Avalon Waterways presents three new Cruise & Tour itineraries for 2027, combining a guided Globus with an Avalon river cruise, connecting different European destinations in a single trip.
The new offerings respond to a growing trend among travelers: making the most of international trips to experience multiple countries and cultures in a single trip. Each itinerary combines the on-the-ground expertise of Globus tour directors and local guides with Avalon's renowned river cruise experience.
With these additions, Avalon's Cruise & Tour collection now includes a total of seven itineraries that explore some of Europe's most iconic destinations, from the Swiss Alps and Austria's imperial cities to the UK, Ireland, Italy, and Spain.
Pam Hoffee, president of Avalon Waterways, explained: “Traveling through several countries is one of the most rewarding experiences there is, but also one of the most complex to organize. That's precisely where Cruise & Tour itineraries excel. Globus takes care of all transfers, hotels, and onshore details, while Avalon manages everything related to the river cruise. This allows travelers to focus solely on enjoying every moment of the trip, without worrying about the logistics.”
Essential Britain & Ireland with Romantic Rhine – 17 days | 6 countries
This itinerary combines some of the most iconic sights in the UK and Ireland with a Rhine River cruise. From the verdant Irish landscapes and historic British cities to vineyard-covered hillsides, medieval castles, and the spectacular Rhine Valley.
The Best of Spain with Paris & Normandy – 16 days | 2 countries
The journey begins in Spain, visiting cities like Madrid and Barcelona, where a highlight is the iconic Sagrada Familia Basilica. Afterward, travelers board an Avalon ship to cruise the Seine and discover Monet's gardens, the historic beaches of Normandy, the medieval city of Rouen, and the elegance of Paris.
Italian Vista with Romantic Rhine & 2 Nights in Lucerne – 17 days | 5 countries
The experience begins in Italy, with visits to iconic landmarks such as the Colosseum, the canals of Venice, and Lake Como. The itinerary then includes two nights in Lucerne before embarking on a journey to destinations like the Black Forest, Strasbourg, the Rhine Valley, and the canals of Amsterdam.
The Cruise & Tour package combines two ways of traveling into a single, connected experience. In addition to organized excursions, travelers have free time to explore on their own both during the land tour and the river cruise.
According to Hoffee: “By combining Globus’s world-leading land travel with Avalon’s award-winning river cruises in a single Cruise & Tour itinerary, travelers can discover Europe’s most iconic destinations in a broader, more enriching, and simpler way. It’s the perfect opportunity to turn a dream trip into a truly unforgettable experience.”.
