Cunard celebrates the Four Queens reunion in Liverpool

On May 16, 2028, Queen Mary 2, Queen Elizabeth, Queen Victoria and Queen Anne will meet on the River Mersey, in what promises to be one of the most memorable events in Cunard's modern history.

This event will mark the first time the entire fleet has been reunited, and it will take place in Liverpool, where the company was founded in 1840. It will be a unique opportunity to see all four "Queens" together in one place.

The last time multiple Cunard ships were together on the Mersey was in 2015, when three of them celebrated the brand's 175th anniversary, attracting over a million spectators. The 2028 gathering builds on that legacy and is expected to draw global attention, with Liverpool celebrating in style along its iconic waterfront.

The arrival of the Queen Mary 2 in Liverpool on May 16, 2028, will also mark its first direct transatlantic crossing from New York to the city, as well as the first eastbound arrival from New York in more than 61 years, since the RMS Sylvania docked there in 1966.

The event will also coincide with Liverpool's 20th anniversary as European Capital of Culture. The city is preparing a wide-ranging annual program of music, maritime, and sporting events, with Cunard's return being a highlight.

Guests will be able to be part of this unique moment through a series of special trips designed for the occasion:

  • Queen Mary 2 will make its first transatlantic crossing from New York to Liverpool, arriving in the heart of the celebrations, before continuing its usual routes through Canada, New England and the Caribbean.
  • Queen Anne will begin its 2028 season in Scandinavia and Northern Europe, including a spectacular overnight stop in Liverpool.
  • Queen Elizabeth and Queen Victoria will allow their passengers to enjoy the spectacle from the ship itself, joining the meeting on the River Mersey. Queen Elizabeth will sail from Southampton to Le Havre before the event, while Queen Victoria will arrive after a British Isles itinerary, including Scotland, Ireland, Northern Ireland, and Wales.

Katie McAlister, Cunard's chairwoman, said: “Bringing our four Queens together on the Mersey for the first time will be a unique and incredibly special moment. Liverpool is where our story began, and returning with the entire fleet is a powerful celebration of that bond.”

For its part, Liverpool City Council highlighted that it will be an extraordinary occasion for the city, its residents and visitors, within a 2028 that will also include events such as the European Championship and various cultural celebrations.

The event promises to be an unforgettable experience for both passengers and those watching from the ground.
