Celestyal has confirmed the successful and safe transit of its two ships, the Celestyal Discovery and the Celestyal Journey, through the Strait of Hormuz, marking an important operational milestone and demonstrating leadership in the cruise industry during a particularly delicate period in the region.
On Friday, April 17, the Celestyal Discovery, under the command of Captain Nikolaos Vasileiou, became the first cruise ship to depart the Arabian Gulf, executing a carefully coordinated navigation plan developed in close collaboration with regional authorities and maritime safety teams. This pioneering move established a safe and proven route through the strait, allowing other cruise operators to follow suit.
Following the passage of the Celestyal Discovery, on Saturday, April 18, the Celestyal Journey, led by Captain Angelos Vasilakos, successfully sailed the same route, heading a larger convoy of cruise ships leaving the region using the established corridor.
The navigation plans were developed through extensive coordination with authorities and security actors, ensuring that all movements were carried out with the highest levels of safety, precision, and situational awareness.
Safety was the absolute priority throughout the entire operation, with exceptional leadership, experience, and calm command demonstrated by both captains, along with the teams on board and ashore.
