Holland America Line 's Koningsdam has returned from a two-week dry dock in the Bahamas with new accommodation options designed for families and groups of friends traveling together, as well as renovated entertainment spaces and shops.
Key improvements include the addition of five new, larger outside cabins, designed to accommodate up to four guests. These cabins feature two beds that can be joined to form a queen bed, as well as a double sofa bed. Four of these cabins are connecting, making it easier for families or larger groups to book together.
The cruise line has also updated 22 Vista suites, which now include new sofa beds, expanding the possibilities for those traveling with others who wish to share space without sacrificing comfort.
As for the public areas, the space connecting Billboard Onboard and the Rolling Stone Lounge, creating a more dynamic and immersive environment for live music. This space now incorporates new seating areas that allow passengers to simultaneously enjoy performances on both stages.
The number of seats in these venues has also been increased, improving the overall onboard entertainment experience.
The Koningsdam casino has been expanded, incorporating new gaming options. Furthermore, its new layout optimizes traffic flow to nearby leisure and shopping areas, minimizing smoke. Meanwhile, the Effy jewelry boutique has been completely renovated, with improvements to flooring, wall coverings, lighting, display fixtures, and signage.
Among other updates, the ship features new carpeting in cabins and common areas, as well as updated equipment in the gym.
Finally, specialty restaurants — such as Pinnacle Grill, Sel de Mer and Club Orange— have replaced some of their fixed furniture with modular tables, allowing for greater flexibility in adapting spaces to different group sizes and guest preferences.
