Norwegian Cruise Line celebrates the christening of the Norwegian Luna in Miami

Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) celebrated the christening of the Norwegian Luna™ in Miami. As the newest ship in the company's fleet, the Norwegian Luna will be the newest to sail to the Caribbean with itineraries that include visits to NCL's two resort destinations: Great Stirrup Cay in the Bahamas and Harvest Caye in Belize.

Norwegian Cruise Line celebrates the christening of the Norwegian Luna in Miami“Norwegian Luna represents the evolution of NCL: a brand built on freedom, flexibility, and delivering experiences that resonate with every type of traveler,” said Marc Kazlauskas, president of Norwegian Cruise Line. “Designed to offer family-friendly attractions like NCL’s signature Aqua Slidecoaster, as well as the new Moon Climber and Luna Midway activities, along with adults-only experiences like the nightly 'LunaTique™' spectacular show, Norwegian Luna is the perfect ship for multigenerational travelers seeking a warm tropical vacation. With itineraries that take guests to Great Stirrup Cay, our private island in the Bahamas, they can experience firsthand the innovations that our customers are so excited about.”

With over 2,000 attendees, the traditional christening ceremony—rooted in maritime tradition of blessing a ship before it begins its life at sea—took place at the company's LEED® Gold certified terminal in PortMiami. Featuring a special appearance by the ship's godmother and hull artist, ELLE, the event concluded with the traditional breaking of a bottle against the hull, bestowing blessings and safe voyages upon all who sail on her.

“The christening of Norwegian Luna marks a significant milestone for our company and a moment of great pride for our entire team,” said John W. Chidsey, president and CEO of Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd. “As she prepares for this special voyage, I look forward to the extraordinary experiences she will offer and the exciting future that awaits our brand and our guests.”

In addition to her role in the ceremony, ELLE, a renowned urban artist and godmother of the ship, created the distinctive hull artwork entitled 'The Moon', a vibrant dreamscape that explores humanity's enduring relationship with the cosmos and its connection to the rhythmic influence of the moon.

In this new evolution of the Prima Plus class, Norwegian Luna™ features an elevated and sophisticated design that extends from public spaces like the Observation Lounge, to accommodations including balcony staterooms, and memorable details like the new Luna selfie sculpture.

The ship offers fun for the whole family with favorites like NCL's exclusive Aqua Slidecoaster, carnival-inspired games on Luna Midway and Moon Climber, a multi-level obstacle course.

With a length of 321 meters and a capacity for 3,565 guests, Norwegian Luna offers a thoughtful design and open spaces characteristic of the Prima class, along with multiple experiences that allow passengers to personalize their vacation.

Among its attractions are the Aqua Slidecoaster —the longest and fastest water roller coaster at sea—, the Glow Court digital sports complex and the Luna Game Zone with classic arcade and virtual reality experiences.

It also introduces new experiences for multigenerational family trips such as:

  • Luna Midway, an outdoor amusement park-style area
  • Moon Climber, a multi-level obstacle course
  • Horizon Park, a recreational space with outdoor games

In the evening, guests can enjoy top-notch entertainment such as:

  • “Elton: A Celebration of Elton John™”
  • “HIKO: Innovation Meets Wonder™”
  • “A Tribute to Eagles™”
  • “LunaTique™”, an exclusive nighttime spectacular for those 21 and over, inspired by Las Vegas

The Norwegian Luna features a wide variety of accommodations, from individual cabins to suites in The Haven, the exclusive "ship within a ship" with a private restaurant, bar and lounge.

It offers 17 dining options with more than 15 types of international cuisine, including modern Italian cuisine, authentic Thai food, classic French cuisine, and 18 bars and lounges, such as the Whiskey Bar, the Belvedere Bar, and the Metropolitan Bar.

From April 2026 to April 2027, Norwegian Luna will offer itineraries in the Eastern and Western Caribbean, including visits to Great Stirrup Cay and Harvest Caye. Great Stirrup Cay has recently added enhancements such as Great Life Lagoon (pool area), Splash Harbor (children's water play area), and Vibe Shore Club (adults-only area). This summer, it will also open Great Tides Waterpark with 19 water slides, cliff jumps, Splash Cay, and a nearly 800-foot-long lazy river.
