Norwegian Cruise Line receives the Norwegian Luna as part of the expansion of its Prima Plus class fleet

Norwegian Cruise Line has taken delivery of the Norwegian Luna, the 21st ship in its fleet and the company's second Prima Plus class ship, following its completion at Fincantieri's shipyard in Marghera, Italy.

The ship measures approximately 156,000 gross tons and can accommodate 3,565 passengers in 1,809 staterooms. The Norwegian Luna will operate as a wider version of the Prima-class design, introduced earlier in the decade, incorporating additional public spaces, entertainment lounges, and restaurants.

“We are thrilled to welcome Norwegian Luna to our fleet and to welcome our first guests on board next week,” said Marc Kazlauskas, president of Norwegian Cruise Line.

“As our newest ship, the Norwegian Luna strongly reflects NCL’s brand ethos: 'It’s different here.' It offers freedom, flexibility, and carefully curated experiences, allowing guests to enjoy their vacation exactly as they wish, with ease,” Kazlauskas added.

The ship's public areas include multiple entertainment lounges, activity spaces, and dining options. Among the attractions is the Aqua Slidecoaster, a hybrid ride that combines elements of a water slide and a roller coaster. Other recreational facilities include Luna Midway, an outdoor carnival-style area, and Moon Climber, an obstacle course designed for both adults and children.

The indoor activity areas include Luna Game Zone, which combines arcade-style games with virtual reality attractions. Glow Court is designed as a multi-purpose space with an LED floor that functions as a sports area during the day and transforms into a nighttime entertainment space at night.

In-flight entertainment includes several new theatrical productions, such as “Elton: A Celebration of Elton John™,” as well as the multimedia show “HIKO: Innovation Meets Wonder™,” which combines acrobatics, digital design elements, and dance. The live music venue Syd Norman’s Pour House will also feature a new show based on the music of the Eagles.

Dining options include 17 restaurants, complemented by 18 bars and lounges. These include main dining rooms with rotating menus, a 24-hour casual dining room, and the Indulge Food Hall, which features various food stations with international cuisine. Specialty restaurants include Le Bistro, the company's French cuisine concept, and Sukhothai, a Thai restaurant with regional dishes. Accommodations range from interior ocean-view staterooms to staterooms and suites with balconies. The Haven by Norwegian, the line's suite complex, offers private living areas, an exclusive restaurant, and concierge and butler services.

Luigi Matarazzo, General Manager of Fincantieri's Merchant Ship Division, stated that the project continues the long-standing relationship between the shipbuilder and the cruise operator.

The restaurant's elegant interior features modern furnishings, tables set for dinner, a vibrant red chandelier, and panoramic sea views through large windows.

“We are proud to deliver the Norwegian Luna, a ship that faithfully reflects our ability to interpret and anticipate the evolution of the global cruise industry,” said Luigi Matarazzo, General Manager of Fincantieri’s Merchant Ship Division.

After its delivery in Italy, the Norwegian Luna will embark on a transatlantic voyage before arriving in Miami on March 23, 2026. The ship will be officially christened on March 27 at the Port of Miami. During its first year of service, the ship will operate from Miami on a combination of three- and four-day Bahamas cruises and seven-day Caribbean itineraries. Later, the ship will begin sailing the Western Caribbean, visiting destinations such as Roatán, Cozumel, and Harvest Caye.

In April 2027, the Norwegian Luna will begin its seasonal voyages from New York, with four- to seven-day itineraries to Bermuda, with overnight stops at the Royal Naval Dockyard.
