Following the high demand for their Antarctica: Through the Lens for 2027 —which is now fully booked—, Aurora Expeditions presents a new photographic expedition in the Arctic: Iceland & East Greenland: Through the Lens, now available to book in 2027.
Departing on July 31, 2027 aboard the specially designed vessel Sylvia Earle, this 11-day voyage invites travelers to explore some of the Arctic's most photogenic landscapes.
Designed to go beyond traditional sightseeing, these photographic expeditions prioritize more time off the ship, small group experiences and access to seldom-visited locations, all accompanied by practical guidance from internationally renowned photographers.
Among the invited photographers are:
- Scott Portelli, an award-winning photographer specializing in wildlife, nature, and underwater photography, is recognized for his conservation-focused approach and his work published in National Geographic, BBC, and Australian Geographic.
- Peter Eastway, an Australian icon in landscape and travel photography, with over three decades of experience and founder of Better Photography Magazine.
- David Vargas, an award-winning photographer and art director with over 20 years of experience in more than 40 countries, is known for capturing authentic moments in remote environments.
- Wayne Sorensen, an internationally recognized landscape and wildlife photographer, with an artistic approach to representing the natural world.
Together they will conduct onboard workshops, image reviews, and hands-on field sessions, helping travelers hone their technique, composition, and visual storytelling while immersing themselves in the Arctic environment.
The expedition will explore the spectacular Scoresbysund fjord system in eastern Greenland—the largest in the world—offering an ever-changing photographic backdrop with towering icebergs, the ever-changing Arctic light, and virtually untouched landscapes.
Travelers will have the opportunity to photograph wildlife such as whales, seabirds, and musk oxen, as well as participate in Zodiac excursions and landings designed to maximize time in the natural environment. In Iceland's remote Westfjords, the rugged coastlines, waterfalls, and volcanic landscapes provide a unique contrast to Greenland's icy wilderness.
With small groups, flexible itineraries and one of the most comprehensive activity programs in the expedition industry, Aurora Expeditions continues to offer immersive experiences that combine exploration, learning and creative development in some of the most remote regions on the planet.
