Viking receives its new riverboat in Europe, the Viking Eldir

Viking welcomes the Viking Eldir , the newest addition to its Viking Longships® fleet . The Viking Eldir was built at the Meyer's Neptun Werft shipyard in Rostock- Warnemünde , Germany . With a capacity for 190 passengers, the Viking Eldir joins the company's growing fleet of modern sister ships and will sail on popular Viking itineraries along the Rhine , Main , and Danube rivers .

The Viking Eldir

With a capacity for 190 guests in 95 cabins, the Viking Eldir is the company 's newest Viking longship . Designed specifically for cruising the Rhine, Main , and Danube rivers, the ship features Viking 's signature elegant Scandinavian design and the industry - leading innovations for which the brand is renowned . These include a space - optimizing square bow , three full decks , the Aquavit indoor/ outdoor sundeck , asymmetrical walkways , and two - room suites .

Viking Eldir will operate popular itineraries such as Rhine Getaway, Grand European Tour, Passage to Eastern Europe, European Sojourn and Christmas on the Rhine.

Viking remains focused on well- defined, long-term, sustained growth plans as part of its strategy to maintain a leading position in experiential tourism . Based on its confirmed order book , the company expects to receive an additional 22 river cruise ships by 2028 , 10 additional ocean - going ships by 2031 , and two more expedition ships , also by 2031 .

With these orders, Viking will have 112 river ships in 2028 and 25 ocean and expedition ships in 2031 .
