Fincantieri has delivered the “Four Seasons I,” the first ultra-luxury hotel ship for Marc-Henry Cruise Holdings LTD, co-owner and operator of Four Seasons Yachts, at its Ancona shipyard, setting a new benchmark for excellence, exclusivity, and innovation in the high-end cruise market. With this vessel, Fincantieri confirms its ability to create unique products that transcend the traditional concept of ultra-luxury yachting, inaugurating a new category of hospitality where the mastery of Italian shipbuilding meets the iconic standards of Four Seasons.
The event was attended by Daniele Silvetti, Mayor of Ancona; His Excellency Archbishop Angelo Spina of the Archdiocese of Ancona; and Rachele Grandolfo, Vice-Prefect, representing the Prefect of Ancona. Representing Fincantieri were Biagio Mazzotta, Chairman; Pierroberto Folgiero, CEO and Managing Director; and Luigi Matarazzo, Managing Director of the Merchant Ship Division, as well as Ben Trodd, CEO of Four Seasons Yachts.
More than just a new standard of luxury at sea, the “Four Seasons I” is also the world’s first smart ultra-luxury ship, representing a decisive step in the digital evolution of shipbuilding. Fincantieri’s Navis Sapiens program—the Group’s first, announced at Seatrade 2025 and developed by Fincantieri Ingenium, the joint venture between Fincantieri NexTech and Accenture—enables a new generation of smart ships, built on an integrated and evolving digital architecture that leverages artificial intelligence and real-time data to ensure safer, more efficient, and future-proof operations. Its open and scalable design also allows for the integration of new functionalities and technologies as they emerge, without impacting the guest experience.
Pierroberto Folgiero, CEO and Managing Director of Fincantieri, commented:
“Today we are not just delivering a ship, but a new paradigm for the hospitality industry. 'Four Seasons I' is the first Navis Sapiens: a vessel with digital intelligence, capable of learning, adapting, and evolving alongside its owner and guests. At the same time, 'Four Seasons I' embodies a unique ultra-luxury yachting experience, setting a new benchmark in the extra-luxury segment inspired by fine dining.”
With its product concept comprised entirely of residential-style suites, “Four Seasons I” opens a new frontier in ultra-luxury hospitality at sea. The 34,000-gross-ton, 207-meter-long vessel features only 95 exclusive suites, each conceived as a private sanctuary overlooking the ocean. The design philosophy seeks to eliminate barriers between guests and the sea through expansive terraces and open-air living spaces.
The iconic Funnel Suite offers 457 square meters of private indoor and outdoor space, ranking among the most exclusive accommodations ever created on a hotel ship. Inspired by Four Seasons' approach to hospitality—personalized service, world-class amenities, and meticulous attention to detail—the yacht creates an entirely new category of bespoke ocean travel. Each suite has been conceived as a personalized environment, crafted with premium materials and generous spaciousness, redefining what it means to experience the ocean in an ultra-luxurious dimension.
The vessel incorporates the most advanced environmental protection technologies, reinforcing Fincantieri's commitment to sustainable innovation. Its construction highlights the shipyard's ability to deliver complex, highly crafted vessels, where engineering excellence and bespoke design converge—a hallmark of the Group's leadership in the ultra-luxury segment.
In recent months, more than 2,000 people — including Fincantieri employees and collaborating companies — have worked intensively on board the “Four Seasons I” at the Ancona shipyard.
