Oceania Cruises has placed an order with Fincantieri shipyards for its fifth Sonata-class ship, scheduled for delivery in 2037, underscoring the global demand for the next generation of its fleet. The announcement follows a record-breaking launch day for Oceania Sonata™ in January, reflecting the enthusiasm of discerning travelers and tourism industry partners.
Reinforcing the brand's strategic direction, the order for the fifth Sonata-class ship builds on the strong momentum generated by Oceania Sonata, expanding opportunities for guests seeking more space, more choices, and greater serenity at sea—an experience that Oceania Cruises is uniquely positioned to deliver.

With its debut slated for August 2027, the Sonata Class ushers in a new era of elevated luxury with a third more space, new suite categories, and completely redesigned superior accommodations. This evolution expands the offerings for guests, from a wider selection of dining concepts to a broader range of suites and staterooms, complemented by enhanced experiences across the fleet.
Oceania Sonata will also introduce two state-of-the-art culinary experiences: La Table par Maîtres Cuisiniers de France, the first restaurant at sea created in collaboration with the prestigious French association Maîtres Cuisiniers de France; and Nikkei Kitchen, a gastronomic concept that celebrates the fusion of Peruvian ingredients and refined Japanese techniques, with origins dating back to the late 19th century.
This evolution continues, marked by the recent transition to an exclusively adults-only experience, responding to the opinions of loyal guests who value Oceania Cruises' tranquil onboard atmosphere, thoughtful design, and culinary excellence.
Building on the success of Oceania Sonata, its first sister ship, Oceania Arietta™, will open for sales in 2027, maintaining the same refined aesthetics, spacious proportions, and next-generation services that have already won over the most sophisticated travelers.
Oceania Sonata's inaugural season, beginning in August 2027, will feature a wide mix of European and Caribbean destinations, from cultural capitals such as Rome (Civitavecchia), Barcelona and Athens (Piraeus), to lesser-known gems such as Paros and Koper, before crossing into the Caribbean with stops in Tortola and Bermuda, as well as Latin American coastal destinations such as Manzanillo and Puerto Quetzal, including a day transit through the Panama Canal.
