Hurtigruten launches a new crossing from Copenhagen to Tromsø via the North Cape, as one of three new routes along the coast of Norway.
The new itinerary gives Scandinavian and international travelers the opportunity to travel from the continent to the Arctic, with stops in some of Norway's most iconic coastal towns and natural areas.
Demand from Scandinavia is growing strongly. The number of Danish customers increased by 17% between 2024 and 2025, while the number of Swedish travelers grew by 20% during the same period.
“We are delighted that so many Danes want to discover the beautiful Norwegian coast and we look forward to welcoming even more guests. With departures from Copenhagen, travelers will be able to experience the best of the Norwegian fjords and coastal communities at a more relaxed pace,” said Hurtigruten CEO Hedda Felin.
Copenhagen Malmö Port AB also celebrated the expansion of its route offerings.
“Hurtigruten, with its strong heritage and focus on authentic experiences, is a perfect fit for Copenhagen as the region’s leading cruise destination. Extending operations into the winter months is especially valuable, as it generates significant economic activity for the city during the off-season,” said Luis de Carvalho, Commercial Director of Cruises at Copenhagen Malmö Port AB.
In addition to the route from Copenhagen, Hurtigruten will launch a week-long fjord cruise from Bergen, as well as a circular trip around northern Norway departing from and returning to Tromsø. These voyages are aimed at travelers seeking authentic experiences, with longer stays in each port and excursions developed in collaboration with local operators.
All trips will be made aboard the M/S Trollfjord and will follow Hurtigruten's signature concept, where all food and drinks are included and made with local ingredients, in addition to dedicating ample time to each stop.
The new routes will initially be introduced with selected departures for a limited time. Bookings will open on February 12, 2026, and the first crossings will take place from 2027 onwards.
