Margaritaville at Sea Paradise has returned to service following a refurbishment and refurbishment program undertaken during a recent dry docking in Grand Bahama.
The ship, built in 1991, returned to service after undergoing a series of improvements to the interiors and public areas, which included renovations to the Euphoria lounge, the casino, the buffet and other spaces on the ship.
Details of the work were shared by the company through a video on social media, which offered a behind-the-scenes look at the renovation process and the changes introduced on board.
According to Taylor Karr, senior director of Strategy and Operations at Margaritaville at Sea, a significant part of the work focused on refreshing existing spaces, rather than introducing structural modifications.
One of the key areas addressed was the Euphoria lounge, which underwent a complete interior renovation. The lounge received new carpeting, upholstery, wall coverings, and lighting systems.
"We removed the flooring down to the bare steel, laid down an incredibly high-quality base, and added a truly exceptional wool carpet, which looks great and feels very pleasant to walk on," Karr explained.
The Margaritaville Casino was also renovated as part of the dry dock project, with extensive upgrades to both finishes and equipment.
"We've done a huge amount of work at the casino. All our tables have been completely renovated, with new upholstery and new cloth," Karr said.
Other changes to the casino included a black-painted ceiling and the installation of tropical-themed decorative vinyl on the light fixtures. New carpeting was laid throughout the space, and new gaming options were added. "We also added new carpeting throughout the premises and lots of new games for our guests to enjoy," Karr added.
One of the most notable changes aboard the Paradise is the introduction of the High Tide Market, which replaces the ship's former self-service buffet. The new space is designed as a gourmet market, with multiple stations offering a variety of cuisines.
Karr indicated that the transformation required a complete renovation of the existing area. "We painted everything a beautiful shade of blue, completely removed the flooring, and laid a brand-new carpet," she commented, adding that new lighting and a redesigned ceiling were also installed.
The outdoor guest areas were also part of the renovation. The main pool deck now features new cabanas, while the 12-Volt pool underwent a more extensive refurbishment. The original decking surface around the pool was removed and replaced with synthetic flooring.
“We removed the tiles around the pool, took everything apart, and replaced it with a material called Life Floor,” Karr explained. The area was also updated with new lounge chairs and fresh paint.
As part of the dry dock, Margaritaville at Sea Paradise also incorporated a Permanent Reminder Tattoo Studio on deck 8. This space had already been launched on board the Margaritaville at Sea Islander and has now also been introduced on the Paradise as part of the implementation of the concept across the entire fleet.
The refurbishment is part of Margaritaville at Sea's ongoing efforts to update its ships while keeping them in service, and the work on the Paradise focused primarily on interior renovations and guest experience-oriented improvements, rather than major structural modifications.
