American Cruise Lines presents its new river cruise ship, the American Encore

American Cruise Lines ' newest river cruise ship , the American Encore, is gearing up for its May 2026 debut and inaugural season cruising the Columbia and Snake Rivers.

American Cruise Lines presents its new river cruise ship, the American EncoreDesigned to be the world's most spacious river cruise ship, the American Encore is a next-generation vessel featuring the largest staterooms, highest ceilings, largest gym, and the most space per passenger in the entire river cruise industry. The passenger ratio on board will be more akin to that of a yacht than a traditional river cruise ship.

American Cruise Lines has made river cruises in the United States a mainstream option within the global cruise industry by introducing modern ships to a previously niche domestic market. The company's new ships are distinguished by their modern design, noise and vibration control, and passenger amenities.

“This ship wasn’t designed out of thin air. We compared ourselves to others around the world and asked ourselves, ‘How can we surpass them?’ I believe we have objectively accomplished this mission with American Encore,” said Charles B. Robertson, president and CEO of American Cruise Lines.

American Encore will feature five decks and accommodate up to 180 guests, with all accommodations boasting private balconies. The ship will feature a stunning four-story glass-enclosed atrium at its center and will introduce American's newest stateroom category: the extraordinary Signature Suite. At over 93 square meters, the Signature Suite on American Encore will be the world's largest suite on a river cruise ship, offering a wraparound balcony, panoramic views, separate living and sleeping areas, and a hotel-sized bathroom with a soaking tub and heated floors.

Other onboard amenities include a large main dining room and casual cafe, multiple indoor and outdoor lounges, an upper deck lounge and outdoor walking track, a spacious gym, free laundry facilities, and elevators to all passenger decks.

Following the launch of American Encore in May 2026, sister ships American Anthem and American Grace are also scheduled to begin service on the Columbia and Snake Rivers in 2027 and 2028, respectively. American Encore and all of the company's newest ships are now available for booking, with departures scheduled through the 2028 season.
