SunStone Maritime Group delivered the seventh and final vessel in its first series of expedition ships, the DOUGLAS MAWSON, to Aurora Expeditions . The delivery took place at China Merchants Heavy Industry in Haimen, China, on September 9th

Named after Sir Douglas Mawson, an Australian geologist and Antarctic explorer whose work was fundamental to the study of the polar regions, this is the third Infinity vessel to join the Aurora Expeditions fleet, following the GREG MORTIMER and the SYLVIA EARLE.
The project represents an innovative international collaboration between Norwegian naval architects (Ulstein), Swedish-American interior designers (Tomas Tillberg Design USA), Finnish interior contractors (Makinen), and a Chinese shipyard (CMHI). The result is an expedition vessel that combines high standards of safety and comfort with great operational efficiency.
Measuring 104.40 meters in length, 18.40 meters in beam, and with a draft of 5.30 meters, the vessel has a capacity for 170 passengers and 102 crew members. It is worth noting that it holds Ice Class 1A and Polar Class 6 certifications, allowing it to operate in both warm and cold waters.
The Douglas Mawson incorporates the Ulstein Design & Solutions X-Bow® and is equipped with Safe Return to Port systems, virtual anchoring, and zero-speed stabilizers. Its amenities include a swimming pool, bars and restaurants, lounges, a boutique, a gym, a spa, and a sauna, all while maintaining an exclusive atmosphere for guests.
