After a 15-year absence, the Island Princess from Princess Cruises will return to a Dominican port. The Dominican Port Authority (Apordom) announced that the vessel will dock at the Amber Cove terminal in Puerto Plata on July 8, marking a significant milestone in the growth of the country's cruise tourism sector.
Apordom's CEO, Jean Luis Rodríguez, emphasized the importance of this return, highlighting it as a sign of renewed confidence in the Dominican Republic as a cruise destination. The ship's last visit to the country was in 2010.
“This return reflects the progress made in modernizing our cruise terminals and improving service standards,” Rodríguez noted.
The “10 Night Caribbean with Bermuda Evening” itinerary begins in New York on July 4, 2025 with visits to Grand Turk, Puerto Plata, San Juan, Puerto Rico, Bermuda and return to New York, a 10-day trip ending on July 14.
