Cunard will collaborate with Talk Art Podcast hosts Russell Tovey and Robert Diament, with an art tour that will help passengers explore the Queen Anne's iconic art collection.
The Queen Anne, which can accommodate 3,000 passengers and set sail on its maiden voyage in May, boasts the largest curated art collection at sea and is filled with bold, contemporary pieces from more than 300 artists and designers.
With this new collaboration, Russell and Robert have created an immersive, self-guided art tour showcasing the many masterpieces aboard the Queen Anne. This new podcast-style tour, launched this month, is part of the ship's rich program of activities, highlighting more than 40 individual works of art throughout the vessel.
Russell and Robert will present each work by delving into the inspiration behind the artists' work, combined with exclusive interviews and their own interpretations.
The Queen Anne houses a contemporary collection of over 4,300 works of art and sculptures, with 500 different framing methods used to display the pieces. The eclectic selection of paintings, photographs, and prints, which combines emerging talents from institutions such as the Royal College of Art with established artists, is inspired by Cunard's star-studded journey to the present day.
One such example is a photographic work commissioned exclusively from London-based photographer Aaron Tilley, inspired by the golden age of Cunard's transatlantic voyages. The work includes vintage Cunard artifacts, from crystal sculptures to jewelry and a cardboard model of the 1936 Queen Mary. This Tales of Cunard piece will be on display in the Princess Grill suites.
Katie McAlister, President of Cunard, said: “Our Queens are celebrated worldwide for their modern luxury, reflected in their elegant design and art collections. We are also passionate about making contemporary art more accessible. That’s why we are delighted to partner with the extraordinary team at Talk Art to support emerging artists, reach new audiences, and continue to offer our passengers unique experiences.”
Podcast host Russell Tovey added: “Talk Art is proud to partner with Cunard on this exclusive audio tour to celebrate their incredible commitment to contemporary art. It's the largest art collection at sea, and with over 4,300 works, it's a stunning and inspiring array of artists. We hope our guide will bring to life the themes and hidden stories behind each of the paintings, photographs, and sculptures.”.
Actor Russell Tovey and gallery owner Robert Diament present Talk Art, a podcast dedicated to making the art world more accessible, with exclusive interviews with leading artists, curators and gallery owners, and occasionally their talented friends from fields such as acting, music and journalism.
