Silversea today announced the construction of a hotel in Puerto Williams, Chile – the southernmost city in the world – to create an unparalleled experience that will allow its guests to explore the Antarctic landscape.

The hotel will facilitate a seamless journey to the “White Continent,” allowing guests to enjoy Silversea’s personalized service and warm hospitality throughout their voyage. Passengers participating in Silversea’s innovative air cruise program, “Antarctica Bridge” – the fastest and most direct route to Antarctica – will fly directly to Puerto Williams from Santiago, the capital of Chile, for a superior experience.
The new hotel, which will have 150 rooms, will be built in collaboration with a consortium of Chilean investors, and completion is scheduled for the end of 2025. The start of construction was celebrated with a groundbreaking ceremony, attended by representatives of the Chilean government and key stakeholders in the project.
Silversea is the only cruise line based in Puerto Williams during the Antarctic season. Located in the sub-Antarctic region of Chilean Patagonia, at the southern tip of South America, Puerto Williams is an ideal starting point for travelers seeking to explore the world's least visited continent. From there, Silversea guests can immerse themselves in the natural wonders of Antarctica, discovering uninhabited islands, snow-capped mountains, majestic ice landscapes, and a wide variety of diverse wildlife.
“As we continue to push the boundaries of the ultimate vacation experience for our guests, this new hotel will allow us to offer an unparalleled Antarctic expedition that further enhances our diverse portfolio of world-class vacations across our brands,” said Jason Liberty, Chairman and CEO of Royal Caribbean Group. “By partnering with our experienced teams in Chile, we are giving our guests a unique opportunity to explore one of the world’s most breathtaking and remote destinations, reinforcing our commitment to delivering a vacation of a lifetime.”
“We are delighted to enhance the Antarctic travel experience by offering seamless journeys that eliminate traditional barriers for guests traveling to this region,” said Bert Hernandez, President of Silversea. “This new construction not only sets us apart from other polar expeditions, but also reaffirms our commitment to innovation and excellence as Silversea continues to set the standard for experiential luxury travel.”
Overlooking the Beagle Channel and surrounded by pristine forest, the hotel will boast views of the sea and the snow-capped Patagonian mountains. Amenities will include a spacious restaurant ideal for group gatherings, a bar and lounge, a fitness center, and a gift shop showcasing crafts and artwork by local artisans. Thanks to its innovative architectural design, the hotel will blend seamlessly into its surroundings, drawing inspiration from local art, architecture, and traditional materials.
Among the world’s most luxurious expedition ships, the Silver Endeavour, Silver Wind , and Silver Cloud will offer a wide range of Antarctic voyages from 6 to 20 days, catering to travelers who wish to discover the region in uncompromising luxury. For guests with limited time, the Antarctica Bridge offers the option of bypassing the Drake Passage and flying comfortably directly to Antarctica to begin their expedition. Expeditions are led by a team of expert specialists. With a near 1:1 crew-to-guest ratio, passengers enjoy Silversea’s signature luxury features, such as butler service in every suite and some of the most spacious accommodations on expedition cruise ships.
