Holland America Line is introducing a new series of cruises for 2026 to take guests to see phenomena such as the Northern Lights.
Starting July 31, travelers can book these special Celestial cruises to see sights such as the Northern Lights, a total solar eclipse, or the summer solstice above the Arctic Circle.
“After the excitement and success of our 2024 eclipse cruises, we knew our customers were looking for additional opportunities to get a front-row seat to some of the world’s most special natural spectacles,” said Beth Bodensteiner, Chief Commercial Officer of Holland America Line.
“Our team has assembled a cruise line that not only delivers on that front, but also offers guests an in-depth exploration of exciting destinations and the premium onboard experience for which we are known“.
Guests booking solar eclipse cruises can enjoy lectures by scientific experts, themed activities, and much more. Eclipse glasses and other necessary equipment will be provided. For Northern Lights cruises, guests can opt to be woken up each time the aurora borealis is visible so they can fully enjoy it.
Three Holland America ships will be ready for the total solar eclipse of August 12, 2026. The Oosterdam will offer views of the eastern coast of Spain, the Nieuw Statendam will sail along the western coast of Iceland, and the Zuiderdam will include the eclipse in its Viking Voyage.
To experience the Northern Lights, guests can choose between two cruises aboard the Rotterdam and the Nieuw Statendam. The trips include an overnight stay in Alta, also known as "The City of the Northern Lights," and spend five days above the Arctic Circle.
In addition, travelers can spend the longest day of the year aboard the Nieuw Statendam, taking guests above the Arctic Circle to celebrate the summer solstice in Honningsvåg, Norway.
For a limited time, guests who book these 2026 cruises with the premium Have It All package will receive all standard package amenities, including shore excursions, specialty dining, a Signature beverage package, and Wi-Fi Surf.
In addition, they will enjoy a prepaid crew thank you, free upgrades to the Elite beverage package, and Premium Wi-Fi.
