Celestyal has launched a series of seven 'National Geographic Day Tours', available in Greece and Croatia. The half-day or full-day tours offer travelers the opportunity to explore the world through unique and authentic National Geographic experiences.
The new land-based experiences, which are now available for booking, are led by National Geographic-trained guides and feature storytelling, special access, and expert insights that are hallmarks of National Geographic. Travelers will be immersed in a wide range of topics and local culture while discovering important people and places along the itineraries.
Excursions are available on all itineraries that stop in the following destinations:
Athens
History of the Olympic Games. From the birth of the Olympic Games to Athens 2004, passengers can trace the evolution of the Games on an in-depth tour of Olympic venues and discover how ancient Greek athletes continue to inspire the country today. The tour includes the opportunity to meet a former Olympic athlete on an exclusive visit to the Olympic Sports Complex.
Dubrovnik
- Silk production and the tradition behind Konvale embroidery . Passengers will embark on a tour of the Croatian region of Konvale, where the local art of traditional embroidery is kept alive for future generations.
- The benefits and flavors of oyster farming. Passengers will sail across Mali Ston Bay to a working oyster farm, where they will experience the ecological benefits of oyster farming directly from its source.
- The highlights of Dubrovnik through a lens. Passengers will explore Dubrovnik's iconic landmarks and hidden gems with a National Geographic photography guide. Starting at St. Lawrence Fortress, they will photograph Pile Gate, Stradun, the Old Town Market, the Jesuit Steps, and the Rector's Palace.
Rhodes
- Unexplored Discovery. Passengers will explore Rhodes in 4x4 vehicles off the beaten track. They will be accompanied by a local guide who will share firsthand knowledge of the flora, fauna, and local culture of this beautiful Greek island.
- The fascinating world of bees. Visit the Rhodes Bee Museum to discover why bees are one of the most important living organisms on the planet. Passengers will taste local honey and visit a working apiary to explore a buzzing colony of bees.
- Blutopia: a marine biology experience. Passengers will learn the story behind 'Blutopia', the creation of a small family business that tries to keep young scientists on their native island to protect the natural marine environment.
All National Geographic day trips meet the criteria of the World Sustainable Tourism Council, and every trip booked helps support the global non-profit National Geographic Society in its work to protect and illuminate the world through exploration, research, and education.
