To celebrate the 150th anniversary of Impressionism, CroisiEurope has launched a new itinerary that will help passengers discover what inspired and influenced artists such as Monet, Renoir, Sisley and Bazille, who lived on the banks of the legendary Seine River.
On this five-day cruise from Paris to Normandy, passengers will explore the places that inspired the Impressionist movement, including Rouen and Honfleur, the Côte d'Albâtre and the charming village of Giverny, which was Monet's home for 40 years.
The cruise departs from Paris and stops in Poissy, Mantes-La-Jolie, Honfleur, and Rouen before returning to Paris. Highlights include:
- Giverny, with a visit to Monet's studio and gardens.
- A walking tour of Honfleur, considered one of the birthplaces of Impressionism and where Boudin, Monet, Bazille and Jongkind stayed at the famous Saint-Simeon farm, each of them trying to reproduce the changing light of the estuary.
- Étretat and the Côte d'Albâtre, with their magnificent white cliffs fringed by pebble beaches. Here, Monet painted La Porte d'Aval in bad weather and a beautiful snowy landscape; Courbet executed his series of waves; Caillebotte brought Père Magloire to life as he strolled along the Étretat road; and Boudin produced works at the end of his life focused solely on light.
- A guided walking tour of Rouen along the streets that influenced Monet, Pissarro and Gauguin, including a visit to the city's art museum to view its rich Impressionist collection, the largest outside of Paris.
- A magical cruise through Paris at night.
- An onboard presentation: “The Seine River in the time of the Impressionists.”.
Departures are on August 11, 15, 24 and 29 on the MS Seine Princesse and the MS Renoir with full board and drinks, excursions, onboard entertainment and port taxes.
