new Utopia of the Seas sets sail for the first time into open water to begin five days of testing.
The sea trial, also known as one of the final milestones of construction, begins just 10 weeks before the welcome party and official unveiling of the new resort in Port Canaveral (Orlando), Florida, in July 2024.
More than 900 experts, specialists in areas such as naval architecture, engineering, navigation and design, are on the Utopia to push the ship to its limits and ensure it is ready to sail.
The teams are carrying out hundreds of tests and inspections, from how the ship moves in open water and the operation of its navigation systems to engine performance, internal technical checks and much more.
The ultimate getaway will cover more than 1,000 miles during the five days of testing and, once completed, everything will be ready for the final phase of construction at the Chantiers de l'Atlantique shipyards in Saint-Nazaire (France).
Starting July 19, the Utopia, the first ship in the Oasis Class, will offer 3-night weekend and 4-night weekday cruises.
From over 40 ways to dine, drink and be entertained, including the Royal Railway, a one-of-a-kind immersive dining experience in train carriages; a high number of swimming pools, the longest dry slide at sea and shows in the air, on ice, on water and on stage.
The party also extends from the ship to land, because all Utopia trips include time to relax on Royal Caribbean's private island, Perfect Day at CocoCay, in the Bahamas.
With the island's 14 water slides, the largest freshwater pool in the Caribbean and the Bahamas, the newly opened adults-only oasis, Hideaway Beach, featuring a private beach, pools and bars, exclusive cabanas and live music; and more, Utopia's combination of sea and land adventures will redefine short breaks for years to come.
