Navantia 's Repairs sector has had a strong presence in the United States thanks to its participation in the Seatrade trade fair.
Navantia participated in this international trade fair to showcase its expertise in cruise ship maintenance, repair, and modernization to operators from around the world. These activities are primarily concentrated at the Cádiz shipyard, with support from the facilities in Puerto Real.
Since 2022, Navantia has established a Repairs business office in Miami, with the aim of getting closer to operators and expanding its contracts from the outset. This reinforces Navantia's strategic commitment to the repair business for large passenger ships and cruise liners.
Navantia Reparaciones' facilities in the Bay of Cadiz offer ample capacity for repair, renovation and modernization projects for passenger ships of all sizes, with one of the largest dry docks in Europe.
These docks have received some of the world's largest cruise ships, including the current largest, the Icon of the Seas. Their geographic location, between the Mediterranean and Caribbean routes, reduces the operating costs for ships serving these routes.
This repair unit has carried out major transformations for leading companies in the sector, such as Royal Caribbean International, Carnival Corporation and Disney Cruise Line, becoming the shipyard that has repaired the most large cruise ships in the years 2022 and 2023.
15 cruises in 2024
During the first quarter of 2024, Navantia completed the dry-docking of the Carnival Vista, Carnival Sunrise, and Carnival Firenze. Currently, three other ships are undergoing repairs, including the Carnival Glory, the Star Pride, and the luxury cruise ship Scenic Eclipse.
Projections for the rest of the year anticipate interventions on nine other cruise ships, reaching a total of 15 repairs for the year.
These favorable prospects are supported by new dry dock bookings for 2025 and 2026, consolidating Navantia Cádiz as a world leader in the repair of large cruise ships.
