Royal Caribbean International has delayed the inauguration of the new Star of the Seas, with the cancellation of two of the ship's inaugural sailings.

Currently under construction at the Meyer Turku shipyards in Finland, the second Icon-class vessel will enter service on August 31, 2025.
According to the announcements sent to customers with reservations, the departures scheduled for August 17 and 24, 2025 will no longer take place.
“Although we are working hard to complete our newest Icon-class ship, Star of the Seas, and after a review of the work that remains to be done, we are unfortunately forced to delay the ship’s delivery date,” the company said.
Passengers have been asked to contact Royal Caribbean or their travel agents to explore alternative options, including transferring their booking to the new inaugural cruise on August 31, 2025.
Alternatively, guests can transfer their booking to other ships under different conditions. They can also choose to cancel their booking and receive a full refund.
The Star of the Seas, powered by liquefied natural gas, will sail from central Florida year-round and offer seven-night cruises to various parts of the Caribbean and the Bahamas.
On its new inaugural voyage, the Star will depart from Port Canaveral for a one-week itinerary through the Western Caribbean.
The cruise includes visits to Cozumel and Costa Maya in Mexico, as well as Roatán in Honduras, and Royal Caribbean International's private island in the Bahamas, Perfect Day at CocoCay.
Also from the Meyer Turku, a third Icon-class ship will enter service sometime in the spring of 2026.
