Regal Princess arrived in Galveston on November 5, as Princess' largest Texas-based cruise ship.
The Regal Princess will be making round trips to the Western Caribbean from now until March 24, with an expected 75,000 passengers on board.
To celebrate this milestone, the traditional exchange of maritime plaques took place in the presence of Terry Thornton, Chief Commercial Officer of Princess Cruises; Aldo Traverso, Captain of the Regal Princess; Jill Whelan, Celebration Ambassador; and Jeff Patterson, Vice Chairman of the Galveston Docks Board. The event began with a festive performance by the Tornettes of the Ball Drill Team from the local Galveston High School and the school mascot, Tuffy.
“ We started sailing from Galveston almost 20 years ago. Princess loves Texas, and we know Texans appreciate the convenience of having the Love Boat so close, offering a hassle-free car or plane travel option to enjoy the beautiful destinations of the Western Caribbean ,” Thornton said .
“As we celebrate the arrival of the Regal Princess, we extend our deepest gratitude to the Port of Galveston for their continued collaboration, and we are delighted to welcome aboard the only premium cruise experience from Galveston.”
The Regal Princess will depart from Galveston on a total of 21 voyages, ranging from seven to twelve days in length, with stops in Cozumel, Costa Maya, and Roatán, among other destinations. Guests can also choose special departures for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's.
The ship will also offer a “Love and Romance Celebration” themed cruise with Love Ambassador and bridal fashion icon Randy Fenoli, departing on December 3. Fenoli will host special events, share his personal success story, offer advice on choosing the perfect wedding dress, and even debut the “Randy” cocktail.
