Cruise tourism is booming. This year, between January and September alone, the number of passengers on board cruise ships has far exceeded pre-pandemic levels.

During these nine months, 3,106 cruise ships have operated in Spanish ports, 5.5% more than in 2019.
However, compared to the number of cruise passengers last year, the figures have increased by 56.6%. Through September, passenger traffic in Spanish ports reached 30.5 million, a figure higher than in 2019, and of course, 20% higher than in 2022.
Puertos del Estado has made a summary of the total port traffic for the month of September, in which they conclude that last month 431 cruise ships were received in Spanish ports and 3,106 so far this year, with most of them concentrated in Barcelona, the Balearic Islands, Las Palmas and Tenerife.
